Wondering which videos to start with and how to proceed? Below I break down video library into recent and relevant videos for different levels. I'm including three sections: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Please let me know if you have any suggestions/additions to this.

As of 9/8/2010, we currently have the following number of HU videos:

15 @ 50NL
25 @ 100NL
15 @ 200NL
36 @ 400NL
11 @ 600NL
28 @ 1000NL
10 @ 2000NL
25 @ 5000NL
2 @ 10000NL
1 @ 60000NL

For Beginners: These videos include a mixture of theory presented via Power Point and live play. They assume that you are very new to Heads Up play. Watching these five videos will give you a very good foundation for beating 50NL.

Key Instructors: MasterLJ, Cpar1

I would start with MasterLJ’s “Zero to Sixty in 15,5650 seconds” series:

- Part 1 (9/8/2008): In this theory video, MasterLJ goes into preflop opening ranges, basics of c-betting, 3-betting, and defending against 3-bets. After about 20 minutes, he spends the next 25 minutes playing two tables of 100NL.

- Part 3 (9/22/2008): MasterLJ talks about the core of HU: 3-betting, hand ranges, and hand reading for about 20 minutes. He spends the next 25 minutes playing 2 tables of 400NL HU on Full Tilt.

- Extra Credit: Part 2, Part 4, Part 5, & Part 6 of the series.

The best place to continue after this is Cpar1’s 4 part series called “Heads Up! SSNL’s Got Game Too”.

- Part 1 (3/17/2009): “Let the fish come” – Cpar1 discusses the culture of 50NL HU, discusses basic do’s and don’t of game selection, talks about what to look for in the first 20-25 hands of a match, and then jumps on 2 tables and plays a 50 minute session jumping between Stars and Full Tilt.

- Part 2 (3/23/2009): Cpar1 begins the video by discussing his HUD and how to set it up in HEM. He then starts to talk about calling ranges when OOP. He then proceeds to play 2 tables of 50NL for 45 minutes.

- Part 3 (3/29/2009): The focus of this episode is dealing with a very aggressive 3-bettor. Cpar1 talks about some basic adjustments to playing this type of opponents for about 5 minutes and then plays two 100NL tables for an hour.

- Extra Credit: Part 4, the series finale.

Intermediate: Once you got a general idea of preflop ranges and postflop play, it’s time to watch solid winning players play at the low stakes. This collection of videos includes live sessions and leak-finders.

Key Instructors: MasterLJ, Cpar1, Markuis

After you’ve watched these videos, I would recommend watching a few Markuis videos.

- Live Sessions (3/15/2010): Markuis plays 4 tables of 100NL on Full Tilt – two tables vs. the same player throughout the whole video and then 2 tables vs. random players that come and go.

- Live Sessions Part 1 (3/23/2010), Part 2 (3/29/2010), & Part 3 (4/5/2010): Markuis playing 4 tables of 100NL on Full Tilt.

Now that you've got a good sense of how solid, winning players approach HU at SSNL, I would recommend watching them comment on beginners trying to play at this limit in a few LeakFinders.

- Cpar1 Leakfinder (7/28/2009): Cpar1 analyzes two tables of 50NL action by CR member Knox828.

- MasterLJ Leakfinder Part 1 (7/15/2008) & Part 2 (7/23/2008): MasterLJ sweats a CR member on two tables of 100NL.

- Cpar1 Leakfinder Part 1 (2/23/2010), Part 2 (3/1/2010), & Part 3 (3/9/2010): Another 50NL Leakfinder by Cpar1.

- Leakhunter Part 1 (7/21/2009): E-Cart advises looking for leaks in the regulars instead of trying to bumhunt bad players all the time. This 6-part series also features Green Plastic. Extra Credit: Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, & Part 6.

Advanced: If you are a solid winning 200NL+ player, these videos and instructors will take you to the next level.

Key Instructors: Green Plastic, CTS, INTERNET POKERS, Raptor, Jungleman12

Between these three instructors is an insane amount of higher-level knowledge. Specifically, I would start by watching the following:

- Raptor (4/3/2008): An introduction into the mind of David Benefield as he plays two tables of 200NL.

- INTERNET POKERS (1/15/2009): Haseeb’s debut video is a 2-tabling session at 5/10.

- CTS Part 1 (9/24/2009), Part 2 (10/1/2009), & Part 3 (10/9/2009): Cole plays 4 tables vs. a very aggressive Russian player at 25/50.

- HU Specialists Part 1 (11/17/2009), Part2 (11/25/2009), Part 3 (12/10/2009), Part 4 (12/24/2009), & Part 5 (12/31/2009): In this 5 part series Cpar1 and Taylor discuss Cpar1’s play at 5/10 for two episodes and then play one another at 2/4 and provide commentary on the action.

- Jungleman12 (7/2/2010): Jungleman is ... Jungleman. Not sure what else to say.

so... why would MasterLJ suggest 3 betting with KQo but not KQs?

I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to.

I kinda get the jist that you are referring to an early 0 to 60 vid. I explain it in the vid that HU is never about a formulaic approach, but that I broke that rule in order to give people with no exposure to HU an approach that would at least allow them to play the game somewhat competently, and put in some hands.

So yeah, when you go ahead and put it in those terms there's got to be a cutoff somewhere. As you grow as a HU player you can choose your own range and reasons for 3betting/not 3betting a hand like KQo.

How good are these videos now 2-3 years later? Are they still valid for someone just learning HUCash?

PrimordialAA videos are ridiculous sweet! I know they aren't HUcash but they have brought my game on so much and have helped me crush $15HUsngs.

Have you checked out oasis00's vids too?

Also we added a new HUNL and HUPLO specialist.

Liqqa and sh58 released their debut vids last week.

Bump new Markuis HU vid on CR!!!
06-07-2012 , 11:31 PM
You guys spend way too much time making vids of you playing your buddies and other winning regs and what not. The real world of HU is against weaker players. The thinking process you go through when playing a reg or a buddy are totally different then when you play a fish.
