Dog. I have two of them

I'm not sure about your question exactly but I like John Mayer and Dave Matthews from this era the most and the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Lynyrd Skynyrd and CCR the best from the classic rock area. I like listening to the Eagles a lot too especially when playing poker. Hell Freezes over concert is the nizzles.

How is the best play against opponents who can't fold their blinds? Simply stop stealing?

What is your line against Mr. Call-Steal-Raise-And-Check-Raise-Flop? Make a note and stop c-betting a missed flop? Or stop stealing against him?

Is AKo or AKs a preflop auto all-in on NL50?

Thanks for your time!
1. Reraise them back. Don't take anyones ****.
2. If they just call then just keep stealing and push hard for value when you flop well. If they 3 bet you a lot then you can either stop stealing or start 4 betting light.
3. I like checking behind on the flop and raisinf the turn when you have air. If you flop a hand then just bet and call his c/r then shove when he fires the turn.
4. I'm not exactly sure. I haven't played there in 2 years and I may not be the best guy to ask. I suppose it can't be overly terrible to justr stick it in, but it may not be best.

3. Do you instantly leave a table where the guy to your left is 3 betting you a lot, or do you find that a profitable situation?
4. Do you like a looser table or a tighter one?
5. What technical part of your game are you currently working on?

PS, I noticed your blog a couple of months ago, and now visit it frequently, it's a very honest view into your life as well as poker at the higher stakes, keep it up.
1. It mostly just takes pracitce. But if you make sure that everytime you grind hard on it and try your best then it will come to ya a lot quicker.
2. At higher limits the value comes from you better opponents incorrectly assigning you ranges. I try and make it as tough as possible on them by mixing up my play and also by emphasizing strong river play. I feel that my river play is what carries the rest of my game. I feel that it is my strong suit.
3. No, I instantly leave when there are a table full of only pros. SO may people play and play and play even though the table is 100% pros and I can never figure that one out.
4. I suppose a looser table that is full of loose but not grat players.
5. I'm mostly working on keeping up with the constant evolutuion of my opponetns plays.

Thanks for your compliment about my blog.

I think there is a lot to be said about pracitcing poker and a lot to be said about sheer volume. I lose when I ten table in that I don't get as much time as I would like to really focus on improving, but I gain in that I am very in tune with poker and all of the little nuances.

Usually ten tables ofr 2-5 hours straight.
Work hard. And when you think you've been working hard, go work some more. That's how I got there.

1. I'm not entirely sure. I guess you cant go wrong with LUVTHEWNBA and MUCKEMSAYUHH. Hey maybe if I cap lock my name I'll get better...haha. Genious plays quite a bit as well and he could be in there as well. I don't have to worry about excluding myself because I am not in the top 3.
2. Again I am not sure but I think you could put Poopers, Peachy Keen and I don't even know who else really. CTS...hahah. He's the same as MUCKEMSAYUHH so that doesn't count.
3. I wouldn't say any. I mean if I said that that means I am top 6 in the world. I put thought into game selection for every table I have ever sat on my entire life. I just don't understand why on earth you wouldn't
4. Stars and it ain't even close.
5. None. I detest limit holdem. I think it is a stupid game where math prevails and I hope it continues its slow death. I hate that ****ing game. it tilts me to even think about it..lol
6. That would be interesting I suppose. I don't feel qualified to answer because I haven't played either of them in HU and probably never will because I value game selection I'm not one of these HU for ROllz clowns that wastes time playing people as good or better than them Give me a table full of fish for some nice low variance easy money poker anyday.

So, my questions are:

1 - What did you do to start crushing SSNL and MSNL the way you do playing so many tables? (I play 12 tables.)

2- In what characteristics of your game did you focus when you where grinding uNL and SSNL? (Pretty much I NEED to play 100k+ hands/month for the next 4-5 months and make at least 3ptbb on 100NL to reach my goal of buying my own place here in Brazil)

3- Did something click in your mind when you were playing these limits that changed you from a marginal winning player (if you have ever been that kind of winner) into a big winning player? What?

4- How is your routine of playing (how many hours and how many cores)? And studying?

5- Do you want me as your pupil? (kidding... certainly not )

You rock, man.

Thanks,

1. I joined Stoxpoker.com as a member and worked on my game hard.
2. I focused on overall improvement through what I learned. Sorry I don't have a more specific answer.
3. Yes. I stopped thinking about my cards and started thinking about my opponetns. We already know our cards. So no reason to stressa bout that. It's better to start worrying about our opponents more.
4. 90%+ play and 5-10+ studying

THanks and good luck

Now some questions:
- What do you think when you are going to sit and play? For example, most people that procrastinate think "I need to sit down and play right now... but i don't feel like it"

- You usually do short sessions of 2-3 hours right? What do you usually do between sessions?

- How was a normal day while you were chasing elite? Example: wake up, eat breakfast, play, lunch, play, dinner, play, spend time with my wife (watch a movie), sleep.
I usually do 2-5 hour sessions. I am generally excited to play so I don't have to tell myself anything.
A normal day chasing elite was to wake up and fire up hte tables. I would usually play for 2-3 hours and eat/shower/ Then play 2-3 hours more and take an hour break. THen play 3-5 hours to end the day. I didn't leave the house more than 2-3x a week usually. I'm vglad it is over with.

Do you have any strategy advice past this that will improve my winrate and help me succeed when I move up? I'm playing very straightforward and don't really check-raise, double barrel, bluff, etc.
I would look for spots to amp up the agression. Agression is vital to moving up in stakes.

If you are not already a stoxpoker member I would become one. Online instructional sites are without question the best money you can probably ever spend on anything. The value is incredible. In fact when I say this I sound like I am saying it to line my own pocketbook but it is the truth. If you don't beleive me then sign up with one of our competitors. They will be the best money you have ever spent too.

When did you switch from LHE to NL? Did someone talk you into it or did you just notice a lot of players making the jump so you decided, what the heck?

Were you ever a LHE pro?

What stakes did you finish your LHE "career" at and where did you start out at NL?
02-27-2008 , 07:27 AM
Hello, thanks for doing this well.

You mentioned in one of your videos blogs meeting up with your NY friend Rob and getting some ideas over a four day period that helped you jump in stakes very quickly. Could you please share some of these ideas?

A lot of other high stakes guys seem partial to omaha. Do you have any ambitions to get into other forms of poker?

Cheers

He just got me thinking more about my opponents ranges and taught me to be mroe creative. I used to play somewhat ABC and he mostly just taught me how a good player thinks. I don't really have anything too specific unfortunately.

I do have a desire to start playing Omaha. Right now my game is good enough to hang in there at 5/10 and 10/20 but I would like to be able to play it at the same level as my No limit holdem game.

You say that you used to play somewhat ABC but now you play like a good player. Can you expound on that? Like, I know ABC players just basically take standard lines and don't mix up their plays ever and are mostly just playing their cards - but what's the real difference between ABC and a good player? I feel like I'm sort of in this "tagfish" mode that I can't get out of -- I'll sit down with the intention to play smart, aggressive poker and then in 20 minutes I'll be back to autopiloting an ABC game.

could you elaborate your thoughts on 'stars vs. ftp?

What did you do before you started playing poker for a living?
02-27-2008 , 12:27 PM
Heya LA, thanks for doing this.

Do you ever feel "disadvantaged" playing 21/18 or so against the good LAGs? Have you ever considered ramping up your preflop stats at higher limits like you do at lower limits?

Are you from Eugene? There seems to be quite a few good players from this area, force, you, ducku. What is your story with UofO, you played golf there?
thanks

I got a couple questions:
-Can you post a pic of your poker setup?
-Lets say I can make a half a mill a year at the level I am at now, should I keep moving up? What criteria would you suggest for making this decision? What should I be worried about if I was to move up (Variance, win rate, etc)?
-Can you tell me what I do bad and what I need to work on, etc.

thanks leather!

leather,

Hi. Thanks for doing this.

What are your thoughts on moving from 50NL to 100NL?
I'm thinking I will probably want to raise limpers from the blinds more, squeeze more, 3bet light more and double barrel more. Is that about right? (of course I have to be careful not to overdo it)
At this level should I usually be inclined to go broke with JJ preflop vs an unknown? What about AK?
