i just got an email saying they're hiring a zoo security guard, and i instantly scoffed and said "this isn't related to my skillset at all" and swiped it away. but then i thought, "how cool would it be to be a zoo security guard?" i imagine i just hang out at night with all the animals, maybe let some of the playful ones out of their cages to see what mischief they get up to. and what's the worst that would happen? i lose my job as a zoo security guard? big deal

And here I thought a security guard at the zoo was in charge of making sure the animals stayed in the cage and didn't interspecies mix... Like penguins get back in your cage! Stop chasing the ostriches around!
They essentially borrow stock, sell it and plan to buy it back when the price goes down, give the stock back and keep the difference. Fine.
It also seems to me that in some ways, short sellers affect the market, as if people see short sellers are looking at a stock, they worry and sell, it goes down.
So my question, why the **** would anyone lend stock to short sellers? What does the actual stock holder gain? Seems to me they lend a short seller their stock, then get the stock back, only now it’s worth less.
