I don’t get how those are compatible skill sets. I know it happens, I just don’t get it. It would be like if football players or counter strike players were migrating en masse to poker. The only thing is that low stakes poker and pool often take place in the same settings. Also , it was a thing to do with my cousin who is from Brooklyn and S tier at the whole “ seemingly super serious about something whilst not actually caring about it at all” jocular kind of playfulness, that on my own I can’t even do.

i think the main thing that unites us isn't so much analytical thinking (as that can be learned over time) but rather a desire to eek out edges for financial gain as opposed to traditional employment

ie i naturally drifted into dfs as many other poker players did and it became my primary income source last few years purely by accident, just started as a hobby and steadily got down a system

You’re probably right. The average person doesn’t “get” on a basic and intuitive level the concept of ev, and it’s ingrained in anyone’s mind who was ever half decent at poker.

I spent many a Friday and Saturday night as a teen playing pool at the local hangout spot. I recon I could take you guys to school.

I agree. I prefer laundering money through real physical paintings

I prefer to just gamble it away. Don’t need to launder money if you have no money.

I am terrible terrible at pool but I would explain to a bunch of poor people there that me and my cousin were the greatest pool players of all time. OF ALL TIME. and we would challenge them to ultra high stakes games of 2 to 3 dollars , sometimes in quarters and say crazy **** the whole time. We would usually lose, but the drama of it was very cheap entertainment. The whole thing would seem like a self own to people who have low self esteem. But often people would laugh as they slowly peeled through the facade and realized we ourselves knew the whole time we knew nothing about pool.
getting drunk and challenging people to pool is how i grew up...

you learn **** REAL quick.

also it's nice to see the looks on their faces when i stick the boot in. no money of course... been burnt too many times. I'm good... just not great. Need my own table for that
