One of my close friends left for Afghanistan today, he'll be there till September, easy money he said. Do you have any friends who were there? Does US still send soldiers in Afghanistan?

my dad was once in New Zeland on a business trip, he was there with his brother and some clients. They were walking to some mountain or idk what to see some historical place, and there was some big (tall strong muscles all around) afro american. (In Croatia we dont habe afro- americans so when we see one we know he is a stranger by default). So, they were passing by him and my dad was joking, telling my uncle imagine that you need to fight with this one, they were speaking in Croatian obv, the big guy heard them and replied in Croatian, they started looking around to find a hidden camera they coulndt believe he speaks Croatian. It turned out that he was a soldier in foreign legion who was in war in Croatia and Bosnia for few months, he told them that he never witnessed a war that brutal like he did here on balkan, and that even if he wanted he could never forget the language (he has had some nightmares prolly thats what he wanted to say)

with that story I wanted to describe you why my friend thinks its easy money, he applied already for the mission in Afghanistan twice but his missions were cancelled, also he is not going there as a regular soldier, he will train and teach other soldiers there, like some commander or idk what, Im not an expert but he told me not to worry.. I believe that bastard, but it would be nice to hear if some ppl here have some experiences from missions there.

yeh thats what he said too, plus he said that he is not crazy to leave his wife and kids to me to worry about them, so I don't worry much. Also I will be drinking less when he is away.
