i made a kid cry once, it was cool, check the umping thread for details. these kids tonight were all 8-11 iirc, but i do up to 16 year olds.

fine, if i must enlighten you, i will:

i called a 3rd strike on this one kid, which was clearly 6" inside,. he turns around, looked me in the eye and screamed "THATS BULL****!!!!!". he ran into the dugout, crawled underneath of the bench, and cried uncontrollably for the next hour iirc. didnt play the rest of the game afaik.

you see, the way little league organizes things in my town, theres an A division and a B division. A is for good/older players, and B is for younger/****ty players. that was a B game and since they suck so bad, they can rarely throw strikes, so you have to make an expanded strike zone to make sure the game doesnt take 7 hours. if you didnt, there would be like 39 walks in a row.
