I'm well KB. I'm starving, so I think I'll have some thing to eat.

I really haven't gone more than 5lbs on either side of 120 since grade 8. I'm pretty much in the 1-teens in summer 120 by late winter. Hibernation and holiday meals do that!

I was told to keep on a run/walk schedule heavy on the walk for a while. I was doing what you recommended but I really ****ed my knee up. So when I was asking around people said that my joints probably will not be ready for the punishment they'll take while I'm focusing on getting a good heart rate and maintaining it for an extended period of time.

The last week or so I've been on the bike b/c of my knee, but that really seems to exercise different muscles. Next week I'm going to start running again but take it pretty easy and see how my knee feels, then try to slowly up the % of time I run and lower the % of time I walk ... then slowly increase the total workout time. And hopefully by June I'll be able to do this with out killing myself.

I try to go sat sunday off mon on tue wed thur off fri but its really hard to lock that stuff in with sick mommy , baby and then daddy. Coupled with this being the month I shut the fund IT off for good . Meh I always do 30 mins of cardio. I'd rather do that then weight aorn. On good days I'm 15 mins on the elliptical 30 to 45 in weights/machines (circuit style) . Then 30 to 45 on bike

im sure its more effective. bike rides are fun and i like pushing myself tho. i went to gym for years but realized i really didnt want big muscles, just to be flexible and have good stamina so what i do is tailored for that.

Have you been doing a dynamic warm-up before you run? There are many good ones on You Tube. I have some very good stuff on Knees, and while it is very comprehensive, it will help quite a bit. : )

Yeah, ty for this but I need to up it considerably faster to be able to run 13 miles by June. I've been going 5 times a week.

Uhhh, idk what a "dynamic warm up" is. So far my schedule is basically I stretch, then walk for a couple min to warm up then go into a jog/walk alternating schedule for ~25 min.

When I was on the bike I was starting with low resistance and gradually upping the resistance for the first 12 min or so while trying to keep 60rpm them maintaining that for a work out of ~50 min.

back in my early twenties when i used to run, i found breaking the 5-6 mile mark pretty hard

That is a very lucid plan, only no dynamic warm-up. Walking is not a warm-up.
