I parked at the hotel and just walked everywhere all weekend. Also, public transport could be good if it was a) well funded and b) cities hadn't been designed explicitly for automobile traffic. I'm a 15 minute metro ride from my house to work. DC averages 595,000 rides on a working weekday - this place would be a god damn mess if all those people jumped in a car.

You know what really grinds my gears? Mobile ticket delivery charges. There's already a god damn "service charge" --- whatever that is. Now they gotta ding me with a "mobile ticket delivery charge"? How ****ing costly can it possibly be to electronically send the ticket to my god damn phone?

Luke,

I know now you don't care about the lady spreading epidemic we're experiencing here in DC. But did you know the band I saw last night did a Bruce Springsteen cover? Well they ****in' did.

I originally included a parenthetical, she's an older, whiter, more conservative and more annoying version of Bari Weiss, with my post

TTC is slower than traffic because she was taking the street car that runs on the same street as the traffic. Those street cars are awful. The streets have tracks down the left lane with the right lane taken up by parking except during rush hour, so if you get behind one of those in your car you're stopping every two blocks while they take on passengers. But there's a slight window where there's no parking allowed at every intersection, so cars will frantically race around and try to pass the streetcar on the right as they go through the intersection and then cut it off before the next row of parked cars comes.

If there's a car making a left turn at an intersection ahead of a streetcar, the streetcar can get stuck there for an entire light. The best is in the winter when there are snow Banks along the curb and car is parked a little too far into the streetcar Lane and the streetcar can't get by until the car gets towed.

Sounds like a nightmare. Cut the city population in half. Problem solved.

They have redone a few lines with dedicated streetcar Lanes but that shuts down the street to various degrees for a few of years which has a tendency to piss off local businesses. The good news is that enough of them go out of business that the gentrification process is much quicker

I used to take the streetcar to work in the mornings before traffic got going and it was great. Stopped literally in front of my building's front door and got me to work as quick as a car but without the hundred plus dollars a month parking. And the monthly pass was only $125. But I would rarely take it home because the bus that was a five-minute walk from my apartment or the subway that was a 10-minute walk we're much quicker even factoring in the lack of door-to-door service

Because being Yoko Ono would be cultural appropriation.

I'm gonna need Kristy the Luke Interpretor for this one.

Listen, I'm no Kristy, but i believe he's trying to say that if uber eats offered a better service or more options then he wouldn't have to go anywhere.

Or maybe he's saying he could then get a job at uber eats and afford to move out. I'm not sure..

speaking of Kristy... she would like this:

Jordan Peterson would be proud.

I don't like doing takeout. It's always lower quality than eating where the food was actually prepared and sometimes outright garbage. I guess there's a lot of people that don't like leaving the house even more than they don't care about their food though.
