Glucose is sugar, sugar can be metabolized by yeast to make ethanol. Glucose comes from starch or cellulose. One is easily broken down, one not so much so.

One is also part of every single living plant, and the other is more concentrated in the seeds of a very few plants, which have been domesticated and grown commercially.
