I'm okay writing since I can pick the words I use and only use words I know, but I can't understand written french because my vocabulary is so bad i have to look up every few words. There is no way I could read a french forum.

Pour parler le Français il faut etre capable a dire le r correctement et je pense pas que c'est possible pour un anglophone
06-08-2016 , 01:14 PM
So you stopped studying french because you realized it was useless?
06-08-2016 , 01:14 PM
We're opposites.
I'd be so nervous and self-conscious that any writing would take me forever, because I'd have to double check everything. Reading would probably not require much, if any Google translation. I didn't need for your posts above.

Kristy, some of my grandmother's relatives would have had some Nazi ties, like working in positions that you'd have to be loyal to the party to have, and I assume some would have supported their policies.

Although my dad's Jewish, his fam was in America already by then. But my mom lived in eastern Germany (which is now a few hundred iles into Poland) and her father (who ran a butcher shop [not a war-criminal butcher]) and 14-yr-old brother were captured by Russians making their way towards Berlin as the Nazi's and taken to prisoner camps in Russia. My uncle escaped along the way and made his way back to Germany, but nobody ever heard anything about my opa again. My mom and her sister and mother ended up on refugee trains and eventually made it back to western Germany, where my oma's family was from.

I took french from gr 5 - gr 13 and then first year university. I stopped b/c uni french was terrible. just lots of grammer. The prof would make us read passage from Balzac and other great French writers and cream his pants talking about how beautiful their language was. Then we'd have to construct passages that used identical grammatical structures.

So we'd get something like
Quote:
C'est ignoble, mais je vis de ce métier, moi comme cent autres ! Ne croyez pas le monde politique beaucoup plus beau que ce monde littéraire : tout dans ces deux mondes est corruption, chaque homme y est ou corrupteur ou corrompu.
and then we'd have to come up with our own version that used the exact same grammatical structure but expressing our own ideas. That was not a lot of fun and didn't seem very useful, but I guess French in uni is French Literature, and not how to speak and understand French.

It is true. Before taking them away, some soldier came through their house and took whatever they wanted. My uncle played the accordion. A russian soldier took the accordion, but wasn't able to figure out how to play it, so he just smashed it and left. AFAIK my oma wasn't raped, but then again, if she had been, she may not have talked about it to her 2 and 6 year old daughters.

The story of my uncle's escape was pretty cool. At night they'd all sleep in barns, and then in the morning the guards would round everyone up and start marching them east again. One day my uncle and his friend hid amidst the hay. The guards didn't have all day to waste, so they looked for them a while and when they didn't find them, they then just fried their guns into the hay for a while and then left. Then my uncle made his way about 1,500 km mainly on foot to where my oma's family was. He'd ben born in Brooklyn in a Jewish hospital, so his birth certificate had a star of david on it (not sure why prisoners still had their ID with them, but anyway), and he was questioned by police once, but one of the cops was Jewish and when he saw the star of david he let him go.

You could write a movie scenario with that true story.

Also it's true that french language is so beautiful.

It's especially shameful, because my family immigrated through Montreal. My sister and my grandparents is/were fluent. (To be fair, my sis attended french immersion and I did not.)
I conjugate all the time.
ALL THE TIME

my pronunciation is so bad that one time I got gas and when I went up to pay and he asked which pump, I tried to tell him "treize" but I was not able to pronounce it in a way he could understand, even though there were only 16 choices it could have been. In high school you'd get made fun of in French class if you spoke with a French accent, so we all just said French words with our anglo accents.
06-08-2016 , 01:47 PM
Please stop talking French. I don't understand French
06-08-2016 , 01:48 PM
Where I'm from people would made fun of you if you spoke English.

Are you from montreal or like north shore or east of there?

I don't know why, but because of your new avatar I give so much more credentials to any thing you say.

Kristy, you'd probably not like my dick pics aorn tbh. Since I left GR I stopped lifting weights and lost what little musculature I had. So now I'm just skinny with a crappy cardio body. I'll probably join a gym soon tho
06-08-2016 , 02:01 PM
You lifted weights with your dick?
06-08-2016 , 02:05 PM
It's tacky to send a dick pic w/o a healthy amount of body (no face obv).
06-08-2016 , 02:10 PM
So, when you send dick picks, in what state do you send them? Or do you send before and afters? Maybe you could send like 10 pictures and it would be like a flipbook.
