Actually it might be a little wide for the clean, but if it works for you and is easier, then I'd stick with it unless it starts to hurt your wrist/elbow/shoulder. A wide grip is pretty standard for the jerk because it creates less required range of motion to get the barbell over your head and locked out.
it definitely felt better for both. i was racking it properly (i think) and my wrists/hands felt great. ill keep experimenting with it.
