Just got back from Springsteen show. They played the the "Born To Run" album in its entirety, and it lit my world on fire. A dude was pulled out of the audience to play a washboard with spoons. A little kid from the crowd gave a pretty amazing a capella version of "Waiting on a Sunny Day." Someone's mother-in-law got to dance on stage during "Dancing in the Dark." There was a bonus unannounced acoustic set with just Bruce three hours before the scheduled showtime. It was completely fantastic.
I also found out today that when I leave Aviano, I will not be awarded the traditional Air Force Achievement Medal (AFAM) like I thought I was. Instead I will be awarded the Absolutely Nothing At All Medal.
It's traditional that if you come to work, don't **** up too badly, and stay out of trouble, you get a low-level medal at the end of an assignment. I should've been a shoe-in for one, since I'm ****ing awesome at my job and I work my ass off.
But, alas, no. Some ****ing senior sergeant on this base has decided that absolutely no one can get a medal if they have a single failed PT test on their tour. So because of the failed PT test TWO GODDAMN ****ING YEARS AGO that has already ****ed me in the ass nine ways to Sunday.
FUN FACT: I have literally not received a single piece of official recognition in my time in the Air Force, and with the decision to not give me an AFAM means that in my entire four year enlistment, I never will.
