I'm really pissed off because we're starting to find out who is/is not getting medals from my deployment. I've long since known that I wasn't going to get one. But I found out today that my boss is getting one, in large part by claiming all of my accomplishments as her own.

It's a dumb thing, but it really bugs me. I'm legitimately ****ing amazing at my job, and I've never gotten a single bit of official recognition, and that bothers me way more than it should.

I know nobody cares, but I wanted to vent somewhere.

TRUE STORY about the person who is more-or-less stealing my medal:

On our deployment, there were three of us on a shift together: Me, Sergeant Goodguy, and Sergeant Satan. Sergeant Satan was our boss.

We were supposed to work 12 hour days, from 6:00am to 6:00pm, 6 days a week. But if I had work left to be done at the end of a shift, I would stay late and do it. After about a month, when it became clear that I was willing to stay late, Sergeant Satan started ordering me to leave when she left, and she wouldn't budge. So i started going home at 6:00pm, and then I would come in at like 4:00am the next day because our work needed to get done (and our night shift wasn't all that great). When Sergeant Satan realized I was doing this, I got a talking-to which I didn't understand, but I stopped doing it and just started working my 6:00 to 6:00 shift every day, no matter what.

One day I had a bunch of stuff left undone at 6:00pm, so I decided to come in on my off day to finish it. I showed up at about 10:00am to get to work, and Sergeant Satan damn near blew a gasket. She took me aside and got incredibly mad at me for being there and ordered me home. I left, confused and worried.

Eventually, Sergeant Goodguy explained to me that I was making Sergeant Satan look bad by working longer hours than her, and that's why she was so pissed at me. So I started doing things like sneaking paperwork home with me (nothing classified, obviously) in my backpack so I could do it in my barracks, then bringing it back done the next day. Sergeant Satan never caught on, because instead of supervising me expanding the air control capabilities of Operation Enduring Freedom she spent most of her workday closed in her office doing online college classes.
