yay educational wanking!
I spent a semester writing a 30 page report (data included obv) that verifies that the wealth effect is indeed a thing

The wealth effect or that I wrote a paper on it?

In both cases the answer is yes

Hello sir

Your paper obviously. Just say "trivial, gtfo" and get another Micro teacher next semster after he fails you. Not too subtle of an argument though, I agree.

my conclusion is literally going to be "ignore my paper and all the time I spent writing it. it is useless and pointless."

It was an econometric course. It was more about the process of learning how to use SAS and some more advanced linear regression concepts than trying to make any profound economic arguments... although I kind of did want to study something novel, but I couldn't get the information from Elias Sports Bureau to do the hockey analysis I wanted to do.

I'd advise against that. You ought to be able to say something worthwhile even if it's meta

the crazy thing is tho, science, and basically the advancement of knowledge in general, would be enhanced if a great number of authors took this view

(Seriously) Can I read the report? I'm interested.

Orly? I've been advised to look into econometrics. Apparently this paper might fall partly into such a field of study. You should tell me what is relevant info to include, and how to make the proper tables for interpreting such data.

We have been advised to specify any limitations of our research. Half of mine is that I don't know wtf I'm doing, the other half is that, of what I do know, it's all pointless anyway.

We covered the phenomena of papers that don't really prove anything never leaving the filing cabinet or whatever.

The lasttime Ieverwrote a paper was that year Iwent to community college in like 2008 or so and itwas about history I dont really rememebr more than that. I got a B but rememebr being really lucky to get a b.

Idk man. The class was about OLS and the assumptions that are necessary for a linear regression to be the best estimator of data and how to test those assumptions to see if they're met and what (if anything) can be done if they're not. It's hard to say how your paper fits into that or what that person meant by advising that to you. I'm hardly an expert.

Well I do need to know if the linear regression modeling I'm doing is valid for describing what I want to describe...

but nah, I'm completely resigned to just pulling as many bs statistics and shoving them into a paper as possible. i dgaf about this anymore.

imo just assume it is. If you haven't taken courses to verify one way or another as a prerequisite or covered it in the course you're in they can't possibly hold it against you.

that's my line of thinking
