Just seems that with all the press and especially lulzsec and good lord it just boggles my mind how anyone anywhere ever can do anything in plaintext?!?

But from your perspective is that a corporate thing for some reason? i.e. IT guy: "Sir this is absolutely ridiculous... we need to hash these PWs and not have them in plaintext. It will take 5 hours to do the upgrade" and bossman is like "Sorry bub ain't happenin' $$$$$$$$$$"

Or are IT people (or whatever field these people would be) really that dumb? They can't possibly be. No plaintext passwords is rule a like #0000000.0000000001 of data security...

I went on this rant when 2p2 got hax0red but I didn't get to hear from anyone with irl experience...

Like Ivey would ever massage himself ever. No one in our tax bracket has to do these petty things on our own.

I have pretty much daily arguments with developers about the most basic things (error handling, security, data validation, etc).

I am sure there are smaller shops where spending a little money and time is an issue, but really it is just a combination of stupidity and laziness.

Or the stupid "logic" of "Well, if we don't let them into the database then the encryption is just extra work".
