Also, Bexie, this is a Humanities class.

Lep: I hate this class. Nickle and Dimed wasn't bad though.

Worse still, Weber states that everyone in society is complicit in cooperating to keep this system in place because everyone benefits or believe they can benefit from it. This hold on wealth is not only allowed to exist but, according to Weber, “stratification by status goes hand in hand with a monopolization of ideal and material goods or opportunities, in a manner we have come to know as typical” (p. 172). So not only do members of all classes participate in the continuing lack of opportunities to lower classes they are considered the norm in society.

But this teacher has yet to give me an "a" on a paper. Instead, I've gotten a B (deserved, I sent her a copy with typos on accident), and A-, and a B+. I've spent so much time on these papers and I've written two pretty darn good essays. In order to not get an A- for the class (and ruin my 4.0 gpa) I have to get a 145/150 on the last essay. I sent her an email asking for advice. I hope she softens to me now.

Even it's a Humanities class, my point doesn't change really.

A good example of the division of labor is her allegorical relationship of breeders vs. drones in the maid office. She sees her office manager Tammy as having moved from the worker class to the higher class and she demonstrates it with provocative outfits and long fingernails (Ehrenreich, 2001).

). Marx’s theories of alienation can also be easily applied to when she doesn’t speak up for her co-worker George. When her manager decides George is stealing from the restaurant, Ehrenreich is horrified to find out that she was losing touch with her “crusading spirit” (p. 41). Further alienation is thoroughly demonstrated when Wal-Mart uses anti-union propaganda films to alienate workers from each other (2001).
