I have a feeling my grip is gonna fail on my DL long before my legs can't lift the weight anymore.
That is the same for roughly 100% of humans. Always do your warmups with a double-overhand grip and try to do the same for work sets. Once your grip starts to fail on those, either get chalk or use a mixed grip.
