I'm 95% taking this new job, do i tell my current employer

a) now and probably get let go before xmas, so a nice ~6 week vacay 1 of which i'll be spending in Cancun

b) tell them on the Jan 3, so i can get my year end bonus(5-7k) get paid for the 4 days of holidays between now and then, but risk missing out on cancun and only have a 4 week vacay

c) two weeks before I'm supposed to start this new job (Jan 30) and collect every penny I can from these suckers before I move to misery

a would be the WOAT answer. b is better = year end bonus ftw + 4 weeks of vaca

I'm obviously leaning towards B, but i just wasn't sure how bad it would look if i receive my end of year bonus, then come back the next week and say "I'm leaving for a new job." I guess caring about what my former employer thinks of me isn't that big of a deal?

i know I've "earned that money" but if they have the option of not paying it to me, they'll snap call

many many years ago, i quit like Jan 3rd and because they hadn't sent year end bonus checks in the mail yet, i didn't get one. raised hell because i earned it but never got it. some places will screw you over if you give them any reason to.

from a management perspective, almost no company needs 2 weeks notice.
from employee perspective, to collect some benenfits, you have to give "appropriate" notice.
if you gave me 2 weeks notice, i'd have you start logging out and collecting your personal gear immediately. no reason to carry risk of giant psycho disrutping the workplace.
