What does it mean when villain tanks here? What does it mean when villain tanks here?

500 eff 1/2

Hero late 20's male probably seen as TAG. I limp UTG with 66. Villain 30ish white guy raises to 14 from +1. Short stack calls in position. Hero calls.

AQ6hhx (42) checks around
8c hero bets 25 villain now TANKS for over a minute. Short stack folds out of turn almost immediately so for most of the tank it's HU. I don't want to say whether he fold call or raised til I hear your thoughts.

What is villain thinking about on this turn?

Without more information I would first assume he did not know it was his turn to act.

The second most likely scenario is he's trying to apply a some sort of system to appear readless or he is playing out the remainder of the hand in his own head.

He could also be on drugs.

Not loving the limp/call pre. You're OOP and have no guarantee that your play will be worth it.

He has plenty of things he can be tanking for. He has Kings or KQ or JJ and is trying to figure out if he wants to call down. He can have KJs and be wondering if he wants to try at it. He could've trapped AA and is wondering if he wants to raise now or raise later. If he calls, you should be betting the river because that's how we get the most value.

l/c is perfectly fine this deep at most 1/2 tables.

I'd guess he is legitimately confused. Many 1/2 players would have donk bet this flop to protect their TP hand or even sets. So he doesn't know if you're just bluffing on a FD, have some sort of 2nd pair or have a monster.

FWIW, never folding in this situation to a raise.

Obviously he has 88 and just binked so hard that he got sent into a daydream about all the cheeseburgers he can eat after he ships this pot. Once he snaps back to reality he needs to think about whether to slow-play, and if to raise how much. There's just no other reasonable explanation for him to think this long.

Save your time and fold after he thinks for a minute, congratulate him on the turn bink and recommend the double decker.

Is this real? Did you and V really just post this hand? Given that everyone knows his hand, I don't think you're going to get very good advice ITT.

he tanks because he either can't beat an ace or he has a weak ace. Tanking at low stakes is usually a sign of weakness. At higher stakes players routinely tank when they are weak or strong as habit in order to give off less live tells.

Who cares what he's thinking about. He could be thinking about the waitress he's been with last night, how his boss is a dick, what he's going to do next weekend.

Or maybe he's just ******ed and it's taking him 60 seconds to do some incorrect poker math.

Welp... I know what v is thinking about when he tanks -- "why didn't I just cbet?"

But I have no idea what he's thinking about when he TANKS.

Presumably, he's SCREAMING at the monsters inside his head.

I was going to link this to the other guys thread as an interesting reference. We've all been in the situation where suddenly villain tanks in a standard spot. Heck i was in one last night (might post).

Did V raise to 75? and you folded? at the Hard Rock?

I'd love to know how you ended up folding a set to me there

I was mainly tanking bc I was new to table and had no reads so wasn't sure if I should call or raise, I was thinking about the strength of your leading range and couldn't decide If flatting or raising was best
