Hi Guys,

So this hand happened the other day. And I've been trying to analyze the optimum line for this situation. I find that this kind of thing crops up now and again when playing with a mix of big stacks and short stacks.

Background: $1-2 NL - $400 Max

V1 ($1800) - The whale. MAWG running super hot, making suspect calls and over valuing his hands. But the table is not adjusting and he's running like God. Limps almost everything and haven't seen a preflop raise in several hours from this villain.

V2 ($150) - MAAG. Playing very loose pre, but pretty fit/fold post. Not very aggressive.

Hero ($670) - MAWG. Playing TAG for last few hours, recently shifted to LAG to iso the whale in position in more pots.

------------OTTH ----------------------
7-handed

V1 - UTG +1: opens to $12.
V2 - BTN: Jams $150 (has been jamming every 5th hand, and is ready to go home)
Hero - SB: A A Tank calls the $150.

V1 calls the $150 with little hesitation.

Flop ($450)
9 7 4

Hero has about $520 left and is first to act. Hero??

Thought process: Obviously a great spot. V2 is shoving any pp, any decent Ace and possibly larger SC's as well. V2 is stuck, ready to go home, and has shown multiple jams with short stack and small pp in the last 1/2 hour. V1 has not shown aggression pre, and I just had a gut feeling he had a big hand. So, I didn't over raise pre, as I would expect V1 to fold all hands except AA/KK, and might well fold KK if I over jam for 300BBs+. That would be a disaster if he has JJ-KK, and I'm trying to get him along.

The pot will be huge and can easily get $$'s in over the next 1-2 streets depending on flop texture.

Looks like the money is going in. If you do anything less than jam. Ck and a hits, then what?

The op could use a edit. Flop has 3 and 1.

Yes, the money is going in. I'm more interested in whether preflop should be a

1. Call
2. Min raise
3. Jam

Perhaps a trivial spot but I was curious what others thought.

Flop is two spades one heart.

As long as you think you can get V1 to put all of the money in with worse hands I don't mind the preflop call. The shove size is big enough that nothing can profitably call after you. Against certain V1's a shove preflop to look like your isolating V2 would be better.

You don't need to push hard but after calling the shove you can't represent air either. I would bet $200 on the flop. Smallish but sets up a good turn shove size. $100/$150/shove also works. It's obviously trying to suck villain in but your giving him such good price it will be hard to fold.

You're in a really good spot here and I like checking or betting the flop. But I like checking more. If villain has an overpair he's ahead of your range and should bet. He doesn't have a flush draw often enough for you to be afraid of giving a free card. Even if he checks back and a spade comes on the turn, you can profitably shove because he will call with more Axs hands than he will have flushes.

i probably reshove pre. you haven't seen him raise pre in several hours so either he finally woke up with a hand or got bored. i get the idea behind flatting pre but i think it opens us up to making mistakes postflop when V might call any amount preflop. if he calls 150 he will probably call 670.

Lead out for $150 on the flop. The rest is going in on any turn. Preflop is WP

Thanks guys. Seems like it's a no lose situation. But preflop call is likely more +ev. I ran a couple of hands through a calculator and found that out ev goes up faster by adding the extra money than our equity diminishes by going multiway (no surprises).

Hand played out poorly for us. But I wasn't worried about that.

Hero leads flop for $220. V1 calls quickly.

Turn is 3rd spade. I lead jam for 300ish. V1 Snap call and slow rolls a flush (KQs) on the river to scoop. One of the biggest 1-2 pots ive played, and appreciate the input on the flop desicions.
