Hello guys.

Lets assume a $5/$10 NLH full ring (9 players) with 17-20% VPIP rate, with each 100BB stack and 20 hands are dealt per hour. What do you think the hourly pot size distribution would look like in the long run. I'm trying to fill up the chart below.

Thanks in advance. All your valuable comments and information are welcomed.

number of pots less than $15 is XX
number of pots less than $35 is XX
number of pots less than $75 is XX
number of pots less than $150 is XX
number of pots less than $300 is XX
number of pots less than $500 is XX
number of pots less than $750 is XX
number of pots less than $1000 is XX
number of pots less than $1500 is XX
number of pots less than $2000 is 22

I’ll take the first one - 0%

Others I’ll leave up to everyone else

Lol

Op, i think dealers might have a better take than players. There is a "casino and cardroom poker" forum under live poker.

If you title your thread something like "question for dealers on average pot size" i bet you get some decent responses.

Going to be very game dependent. I'd have 2 very diff answers between a tuesday afternoon and a saturday night for example.

you're gonna get like 40 hands an hour in this nit fest
and if you're playing in it i hope it's a must move game

Thanks for the reply. Lets update the question like this then;

Lets set the table as 2 pros, 2 total fish and 5 medium recreational players.

Now how would the pot distribution look like? I wanna calculate hourly rake btw, that's what I'm after.

That's what I'm going after. I will compare some formulas like below.

1. no cap 3%
2. $5 fee each pot with 5% rake $30 cap
3. 5% with $50 cap

First I need the distribution.

Id worry more about the rake and less about pot size distribution.

Are you trying to figure out whether a home game is beatable?

Sort of.. But mainly I'm trying to find out which rake structure is best for the players.

It's 5/10; you should be paying time.

Any of these methods will make the guy running the game buckets of money (which means you shouldn't be playing in the game).

Even if the game is marginally beatable, do not support this kind of highway robbery. Standard for $5/$10 in United States is either $5-$6 per hand rake or $6-$8/half time charge. I can semi-understand $10/half hr time or rake going up to $10.

If the rake goes up to $30, they will be taking at least $500 off the table every hour. Good Luck under those circumstances...
