KK in 5/10 NL Cash Game KK in 5/10 NL Cash Game

I have KK in later position during a 5/10 NL cash game. A player from beginning pos open raises to 40 and there is call in-between us. I re raise to 180 and get called in both spots. The flop comes 4d, 10d, Qh. It checks to me and I bet 320. The original raiser calls and the villain in the middle makes it 700. I tank for a while debating my options. The villain in the middle is not a very strong player and I haven't played much with the original raiser. I decide to call putting my opponent on either a set of 10s or some kind of straight with a flush draw. I feel like I can leave a set of Qs out of his range because I feel he would have re raised pre flop. The original raiser folds. The turn comes 10h, which I feel is a pretty safe card for me making it less likely for him to have a set of 10s. Villain checks to me and I check back. River comes a 2h. Villain shoves and I call to see him turn over Q10o. I've been debating my river call here. After thinking about it I think my hand is only a bluff catcher at this point. I'm not sure though. Anyone have any insight? I could use it.

I should have noted villain shove was for over 2k. I had about 1300 to call with.

It’s close to 3:1 on river.. hard to fold.. but you also know what you’re getting into by calling on turn. gross spot..

the check, juicy raise on flop tells me a pretty massive draw or a huge hand — likely to be a big hand by an inexperienced player. I was actually thinking of QT as hand was being described.

if I were you, I wouldn’t be so interested in seeing more streets. likely you’re ahead and more streets can make it dicey with straight and flush draws. hand has big value now, maybe not on a lot of turns. bet 420-450. saves money if you’re beat. and if you’re ahead of like AQ, you can make it 2 streets of value by checking on turn and betting river.

my two cents

I had a hard time putting him on QT in a 3 bet pot

Smaller pre (they should be playing pretty tight vs a squeeze from these positions), smaller on the flop. Definitely fold flop to a squeeze. As played bet like $500 on the turn because of the draws. After checking turn, call the river (because of the front door FD.)

Poker is hard.

pre sizing is fine. smaller on flop -- like $210.

Preflop sizing is in the right ballpark, fine with a couple BBs smaller too. I agree flop sizing should definitely be smaller.

I wouldn't totally discount QQ and I'm not surprised to see QT, but QTo is definitely a shock.

I'm fine with having some bluff catchers check back the turn to protect our hands that take a free card so that we don't always hate a blank. AQ should shove because it blocks value hands, though maybe we go with checking AA over KK because KK has extra protection motives against Ax combo draws.

River plays itself as this is the best runout and action for our bluffcatcher.
