Im struggle playing my A-game on 2/5(in my local game which is deep) while im used to play much higher during ept circuit /wsop.

I feel i can make easily 15k a month in this game if i play it for grind

But sometimes when im.playing games like 50/100$ with 10k buyin and go back on this game; i feel it hard to stay full focus to grind.

Is it human or just a lack of discipline ?

In short, many poker players have a bit of a gambling addiction. Like other addictions as you scratch it, the relief you get becomes weaker over time. So you either have to scratch harder (play higher), or scratch more often (play more hands) to get the same high. That's why you spew so much at 2/5 compared to online and 100/200. Poker players have to decide in the end whether it is better to scratch or win.

It looks like you've already made your decision. And FWIW, the odds you're going to be able to pull out $15k/month out of your local 2/5 game is near zero.

180k just grinding out 2/5 running okay .. that’s like at least 400k for the year if you run a little above EV right?

Same idea that helps you comfortably move up in stakes helps you move down. It's not $$, it's BBs.

This is part of the reason I dont play small stakes anymore. When you play big after playing small its screws you up psychologically. Makes you value the money too much. And theres so little potential profit it just isnt worth it.

I’ve never met anyone in my life that played both 2/5 and 25/50 regularly besides the occasional online 2/5 to stay sharp. My suggestion is drop the 2/5. Or if you don’t have the roll drop the 25/50. It would be like a tennis player playing racquetball half the time and messing up his stroke.

i recommend buying in for $500 and rat holing any time u get over 1K. This will keep the game in territory youre familiar with and will artificially boost your win rate

You believing you can make 15k/month in 2-5 is probably the root of your problem. You're essentially saying that you will make $500/day on average in a max $1000(200BB)game. That is actually an insane expectation.

Your second major problem is that you're view of the game is based off how much money is on the table rather than looking at the game like its chess for example. There are chips on the table whatever monetary value they hold is irrelevant until you're at the cage. If you can't hold that perspective then I wouldn't suggest playing at lower stakes. tbh I wouldn't suggest poker as a career until you fix your perspective.

The 2/5 in my city is 1500 cap ( it used to be very good , now i barely played this game the last 12 months because they changed the rake system and people are buyin shorter)..

i did on average 20k/month for 1 year and half ( when it was deeper and standard raise at 30-35 ( you could consider it as a 5/10 ))
My average hourly was 120$ ( i dont feel i runned that good , i runned ok !
Field was soft and regs bad )

Now im more focus on PLO and traveling all over and play nlh just 5/10 and +with highest games when i go to Macau/Vegas...

i fixed this ''spew issue" by considering and respecting more the money i had in front of me ( a bad run helped it )
Also for confidence and discipline i had to !
Sport and Diet helped a lot ...
And yes i now i can grind 5/10 and 25/50 the same way , without spewing by ofcourse adapting my game regarding the limit i play..

The answer is what works for you personally and you’ll have to try a lot of one game perhaps first to get something working.

We all have different personalities and needs that drive us.

For me I can’t focus on performing my best regardless of stakes because the obvious next step is quitting poker and doing something else with my precious time.

Greed leads to results oriented thinking and gambling.

So I have gears and I control how I switch in and out of them with exercise, pot and adderall. That works for me.

Get a job at some shitty place for a month, preferably min wage with long hours. After that the problem should dissolve itself.

It’s actually not so crazy. If he makes 5 BB an hour he makes that in 80 hours or like 10-12 days. The question is really whether or not we actually believe this guy. I definitely don’t buy the 15k a month at 2/5. I’ve averaged 16 BB an hour at 2/5 and I’ve also run good a bit and even that would take 188 hours a month of grinding

I have friends who averaged $100+/hr in 2 5 when Pennsylvania casinos just opened and fish were punting at rapid pace. Of course then the donators learned to play a little and began to punt slower or quit the game entirely and the game/winrates returned to its equlibrium...
