I understand why QJ would suprise you but thats what he had (he showed his neighbor and then someone else asked him to table) which may make this thread seem it had results oriented thinking as a motive. But as I stated in my OP, I thought this felt like a good spot to 3b ship bluff before I had folded and seen his hand. Something else that I thought would be key info in the OP is that I said he "seems" (QUOTES!!!!) like a competent player and I said I really didnt have much history with him. The average 5/10 reg is not up to par ime but maybe Ive just been fortunate enough to play in soft games as a standard.

Realistically, even AT and KT are fairly thin raises by the opponent anyway. I don't think even turn is a standard bet by us, really.
Agreed that Tx is a better blocker but I'm not understanding why people are saying AK is a bad bluff candidate. It blocks 4 combos of AT/KT which are his most likely raising combos imo

I think QJ is discounted, but you’re right, you never know. Live dynamic reads will inform you, but sometimes you just can’t know.

AK is not the worst bluff no, but vs a tight range I expected, it’d be not good enough and would feel it’s over bluffing (exploitatively widdening to AK can be fine but that’s not something we can advise on). In general if we knew he raise folded QJ we probably don’t need any blockers to make a profitable jam anyway, but of course we didn’t know that.

But like, ultimately, all you need to exploits this opponent is to keep playing your current strategy; if he keeps raising when your bet/call range all crush him, then he’s losing tons of money every time. That’s safer EV to go for then trying to guess how likely he is to have a QJ raise/fold there.
