Tonight in $5/10/20 had a weird situation come up. Kinda wondering if I'm the *******. also hopefully this will fly here, didn't really want to put it on NVG to at least attempt to reduce trolling.

I'm $5 SB, fish limps CO, I have A9o make it $90. Blinds are relatively tight and I want to ISO fish. BB calls (who is a friend of mine) Fish folds.

Flop 932 flush draw
Bet $80 BB calls
Turn 3 no flush
I check BB bets $160, I call
River Q no flush
I check he bets $250
short end normally I snap in a blind war type spot but he actually pretty tight here and doesn't bluff rIvers often and really won't value bet things like 88 let alone many 9x here.
I use a randomizer and call and the story starts

he normally doesn't like to show hands, which Im ok with. but I don't really want to show here either. I feel like the fact that I'm tanking a hand this strong, along with the fact that I'm ISOing fish this light is way too much info to give away.

he says you're good, I say that's fine, just muck and I'll muck. I never make a move to see his hand but it's pretty apparent he wants to see mine. Im not that great in pressure spots so I try to repeat myself.

he mucks and is visably upset and pretty quiet for the remainder of the night. we are also both stuck around 4k at this point so I feel like maybe I unnecessarily rubbed salt in the wound.

Aside from just go after every dollar, **** everybody else, Am I being a ****ty person here?

He bet on the river & you called. It's on him to show or muck. I think you were completely fine.

You could have said "I have a nine" without showing if you wanted to be a bit charitable. If he wanted to see anything after that, he needs to show his cards. Friend or not, there's no reason to feed information to someone shooting a soft angle.

+1 to this -- I sometimes even just say "show 'em or muck 'em" if I've called and V is waiting for information but trying to not show their hand.

Not sure I like "I have a nine" here if we're trying not to give information away -- we have the best nine we can have, if hero doesn't want to let people know he's isolating the fish light then "I have a nine" gives away that exact information (or maybe even implies worse, like that hero could have T9 or something).

If it was the fish instead I might give away the information to keep him bluffing though FWIW.

Anyone who gets called OTR and doesn’t insta show or muck has no right to be upset.

maybe there’s an argument for bigger flop bet? but otherwise nice hand

You were 100% not in the wrong. Your friend was a kind of douchey in the moment. Ffs if he flips up his hand he gets to see. Plus, if you guys are friends, he could've just asked you directly after the hand was over.

Nothing in this game comes for free. If he wants to see your hand, he should show his. He's definitely the one out of line here.

It depends on your history
If you've said your good before a bunch of times when he picks off a bluff and he shows then you should show,if not don't

Until recently I used to always show when someone says you're good,or if I'm all in and make the nuts but too few people reciprocate and I got sick of it so I show less often when I don't have to.

Unless he is a nit, I'm calling here. Too many hands that bluff here

This. It is a similar situation to chopping/running it twice. What do you typically do in this spot in your pots together?

Who cares if you show your hand. You aren’t obligated to, but you’re being pretty nitty imo esp if you know the guy

Isn't this a form of collusion?

Your buddy sucks for slowing down the game. He got called, his cards go in the muck or get turned up, next hand.

A ****ty person is a bit strong, but you should just table your hand and take the pot.

meh, seems fine.

river is a snap call btw, folding is insane especially given pot odds and BvB, literally every draw bricking. his value range is extremely narrow

Pretty much this. I generally lean towards showing unless I called super thin and may lose even when villain says "your good". Make a mental note of those that never show and just reciprocate. In general keeping things friendly is good for the game, without letting nits and selfish players take advantage.

It's also obviously fine if you just always want to make people show in spots like these as long as you're auto tabling your hand when called 100% of the time as well.

Sounds like in the example above you should have just showed your hand -- not like you're ever not good here when he says that and you're friends and have a history of showing in these spots?
