$5-$10 NL game. 2000max. We often to bomb pots to start the down. Winner pays time. $50 blind. Play starts on the flop.

This happened yesterday, and I lost a big pot. LMK your thoughts.

$50x9 = $450 in pot dead on flop.

Flop comes Q62

UTG +1 bets $300

CO raises all in to $1000

Button Hero re-raises all in for $2200.

UTG+1 calls

Runout of 97

UTG+1 shows AQ, wins side pot

CO shows Q2, wins main pot

Button folds A4

I know that some of you guys might not like the variance that bomb pots bring, but they are opportunities to play big pots too.

I shove bc against anything but a set I have ~35% equity, and I was trying to get the button HU bc I also knew that he would run it 2x for almost exactly 2-1 odds as an underdog (with maybe my A pair draw being good <which it wasn't>, and also small chance of backdoor straight.) I was trying to give the UTG1 player negative equity, which I did, but he still called and he didn't want to run it 2x.

Anyway, thanks in advance,

Setting aside the nonsense of bomb pot...

Am I missing where you posted your holding?

Yes, I was the button. I put hero in the first button mention.

Fold, if you can't do it flat so you get better odds on your money. Running multiple times doesn't change your equity so should not be a factor in decision.

I mean do the math out. If you ram it all in here and this guy folds, you risked 1k to win the 1000 + 750 = 1750 of dead $, and you probably have between 35%-40% equity. I'll call it 38%.

At 38% equity, this is a marginally profitable play (and when I say marginal I mean marginal). If this guy isn't ramming in many flush draws, it becomes negative just against this dude.

This doesn't even factor in the times V1 actually has a very good hand and will call you. And if he has a flush draw himself, you want him to stick around w/ bad equity and at least get to actually win a side pot w/ your A hi against him.

So yeah, I think ramming it in here is an overplay. If 1k was all we'd have to put in, calling is fine.

I don't mind your play, high variance for sure but probably close to break even.

I think that UTG+1 is actually in a pretty awful spot when he bets 300$ then gets raised and reraised. Given that it was 9ways, ranges are supposed to be way way tighter than normal. I'm pretty sure UTG+1 made a mistake by calling off his stack with just 1 pair here.
