2/5NL full ring at Aria on a Sunday afternoon during March Madness.
Active reg with $2700 in HJ-1 raises to 20, Hero who just sat down with $1K calls after hesitation with QQ, SB fold, BB younger Asian who also has only an orbit or two with $1K RR to $140. HJ fold, hero tanks briefly, RR to $420. BB pauses briefly and shoves. Action?

Just 3 bet pre then assuming BB cold 4 bets, you can call and go from there.

$580 to win $2,022, you need 28.7% equity.
vs. a range of top 3% you have 47.4%. If you narrow this to top-1.7% (eliminating AKo and JJ) you have exactly the 28.5% you need.
Add in the "young Asian dude" factor and this is an easy call.
Just 3-bet pre and flat the 4-bet...play in position planning to gii on flops w/ no A/K.

Thanks for the hand range analysis, fro. I actually observed this hand and questioned whether or not I could make this call. After the analysis, I see it's a marginal call.
Thoughts on flatting on the button vs 3betting? Maybe call a small % of the time to mix it up?
For those interested, H tanked for a few minutes and then called, flop was AQrag and BB insta-mucked on the flop.

not 3 betting pre is terrible
the only reason not to 3bet is if someone is squeezing a lot in the blinds and you want to trap them so you can 4 bet
