1/3 live. 1:00 on a weekday. Hero is new to table. Table has been playing tight in my first 20 min. 10 dollar preflop raises from EP are taking it down etc.

Villain is 80 year old white guy with $180

Villain limps UTG, another limp, hero makes it 18 OTB with AK villain quickly calls the rest fold.

Pot: 39

Flop: AJ8 r.

Villain leads for 30 hero calls.

Turn: 5d bringing bd flush draw.

Pot:98

Villain jams for 135. Is this a protection bet with AT, AQ, or AK often enough to justify a hero fold or are you snapping and writing it off as a cooler if you are wrong?

Donk lead from 80 year old that limped and quickly flatted? Smells like snowmen. Without more information it's hard to say there is much in villain's range that you are ahead of right now. Maybe T9dd is doing this here, maybe AQ. More likely sets and 2p hands are doing this. 55 doesn't lead flop, AA is blocked and 3bets pre, leaves JJ, 88, AJ, T9dd, and depending which flop card is the diamond, some flush draws with a pair. I just don't see villain spewing here with AQ too often.

Would be helpful to know if you have a diamond and which flop card is a diamond.

We got in 10% of our stack preflop (i.e. worse hands aren't really getting the necessary IO to see a flop even if we pay off every single time they outflop us), AA very unlikely due to no limp/reraise and only one combo, JJ a little unlikely due to no open raise, so not a lot of combos ahead of us, plus we (correctly) look weak just calling the flop bet (so any Ax can think they are good), plus we're only 60bbs. Plus guy is 80 years old and chances of misreading hand / stroking out are probably 20% alone.

With basically no information, You have to run your monster into whatever old man has close to 100% of the time for <50 BBs. Its just absurd to pretend otherwise.

Unless you have very specific player tendency information, this is a shrug call.

if he flips over 2 pair w/o an A, congratulations: you did everything right.

if he flips over A5, congratulations you did everything right.

etc etc

EDIT: Unless you have the Ad, there are a lot of Adxd hands that do this as well. This is a sigh call unless you have the Ad, then it's a fold for me.

Not really a good way of going about it in this spot and many others like it. I think the reasons are obvious no?

Looks like A5 or maybe AXdd. You should specify which cards are which suit. It makes a difference in this case whether villain can have AXdd.

I personally have a hard time folding here with SPR of 4. If he check raised the turn or flop I may fold but the donk flop / jam turn line doesn't look like a strong made hand like a set or even 2p. Though A5 is possible and an old man may play it like this because he's scared to death of that last diamond when he has a made hand.

It depends on his aggression factor. Vs your standard unknown (at least in my casino) you would be losing more often than winning.
