Hi all,

5/10 new Encore. Hero bought in short, playing $500. UTG is older white male wearing UMass zip up, covers. V seems passive. Likes to limp a lot and call. He donks large into pfr sometimes. Once called a $600 river bet with a 10-high flush on four-flush board (the fourth nuts).

V limps UTG and folds to hero CO who raises to $40 with AJdd. Only V calls.

Flop ($95): Ac-Qc-2d. V checks, Hero bets $30, V calls.

Turn ($155): Js. V checks, hero bets $60. V calls.

River ($275): 6c. V checks. Hero goes for thin value $100. Ok or
too thin, even against this V? Will he call with worse for this sizing?

Thanks,
DT

you said he’s a passive older guy who calls a lot. this is mandatory value bet

Preflop seems pretty large. But you got one caller, so nice bet.

Flop bet is too small. Should be $75 or so.

Turn bet is also too small. Should be at least $100.

River bet's ok, but I can see him showing up with a flush. You sure gave him a good price to draw to it with your too-small bets.

sizing pre is fine, 4x over a limp pretty standard.

flop bet is good, could use a number of different sizes. against what i would assume is a wide limp/call range, i like a high frequency small bet.

would size up turn to like somewhere around $110

river is an easy value bet, can go bigger otr as well.

Ok hero bet $100 river and V c/r to $300. Easy fold now I assume..

Preflop is great

Flop bet is too small

Turn bet is too small

River I'd check back because you let him draw to the clubs too easily. If you had made different flop and turn bets he'd have less flushes in his range if he still gets to this river and a thin value bet would make a lot more sense.

On a blank river I'd value bet all day

Preflop is fine could add a few bucks if you really wanted to max value vs V, but it's trivial.

I agree with no reads flop bet could be variable sizing but with what appears to be a villain that doesn't understand relative hand strength you should size up your betsizing with made hands.

River is a clear b/f vs passives.

Pretty much this.

Sizing pre is standard, even moreso in LP vs weak passive rec

Sizing flop, as said, should go bigger

Sizing turn is the worst part of this hand imho, giving great odds to someone passive who doesn't understand those concepts but can draw that easy on such a wet run out is a nono

As played and vs that profile i also guess that the best play OTR is to b/f

I don't mind the post flop sizing, we are still pricing out flush draws and can keep in some hands that have very little equity against us. If we end up being beat we can find out without investing too much.

larger otf

larger ott

these are very bad bet sizes vs a passive station

river is meh but i'd check, not sure if he really calls worse > 50% of the time and occasionally he'll spaz with a bluff

i like a bet/fold otr but i might go even smaller... 70-80 seems cool
