Playing 5/10 at Bellagio, afternoon during edc. Table is kind of old guy heavy but all three people involved in the hand are younger.

I’m in CO. loose, down $1500 so far after QQ < AK. Have $1200 in front.

No reads on SB but he plays a lot of hands, mostly 3betting rather than cold calling when he doesn’t close the action. covers my stack. young asian guy.

BB has $750 and has played five hands in two hours, shown down zero.

I open QJss to $30 SB raises to $120 BB calls I call.

Flop Ad 7s 4s
checks to me, I check

Turn Jc
SB bets $150, BB folds, I raise to $400
SB calls

River Qc
SB checks, I shove

Looking for advice if you think river is too thin, I think SB can get to river with Ax but how often do ppl call with those? I think AQ often gets bet on the flop.

On the turn, I debated after the fact my decision between calling in position and raising, in hindsight I think the hand would’ve been easier to play had I just called.

Thoughts?

River is whatever. I don't think you will be called with worse very often, but I think you are ahead almost always.

But I am super confused by your play on the turn.

I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish on the turn. Seems like you're repping super thin in this low-SPR 3-bet pot. What big value hands do you have here after checking back flop in this 3-way low SPR pot? The play doesn't seem very functional as a bluff to me.

On river, I guess you're good a ton of the time, and only $680 left to bet in a pot that is now $1160. Your line looks fishy as well, so I can definitely see you getting looked up if you shove. I like the river shove. If I'm beat, I'm expecting it to be from AJ most of the time.

Turn is much less bad than people here are saying but I still think call > raise with this exact combo.

As played you gotta jam river.

I don't hate the turn raise, from your description it seems like V is wide enough here that a raise could win the pot. I don't know if I love the size, I think I might say if we're raising here we're shoving, just because there isn't enough chips left to play/a shove is slightly more than a PSB.

I'm not sure how much it matters between call and raise on the turn -- you obviously have a bunch of equity even if you're behind, but just calling lets you see how much equity you end with before deciding how much you want to play for.

I didn't see that OP had a flush draw. Call is still better than a raise, but raise is less bad with the draw.

Turn raise is definitely bad. What do you do if he 3 bet shoves on you? Why do you think he doesnt have strong hands? Spr is low with the shortscked bb. So it's very possible 3 bettor checked ak/aa/aq. You are trying to bluff out aq? Or raise turn to check back river? Nothing makes sense.

I think OP is trying fold out KK QQ type hands with the turn raise?

I think river is borderline thin. Maybe with the right image it's just a standard jam.

Strong consensus that the turn raise doesn’t accomplish much, I agree. V ended up calling with A5 so I sucked out on the river

In hindsight, the turn just seems like needless aggression. I have position on the river and probably just better hands to bluff w.

One poster above suggested shove as the only raise size to have on the turn, i don’t think I’d include QJss as a hand i’d want to shove though (lower sdv hands / combo draws + sets)
