Hey Pr4ff, you know you can edit your posts to fix typos and whatnot instead of reposting.
Just saying.

I will mention that is is really ill advised to let your kids choose their gender at such a psychologically fragile age - re the little girl who "is now a little boy".

What do you think is involved with children choosing their gender? On what do you base this opinion? Do you have an understanding of the impact of denying a child their full identity at a 'psychologically fragile age'?

For children under the age of 12-13, nothing is involved other than respecting the pronouns they tell you they use, probably along with therapy with a competent gender therapist. Once puberty begins, it may involve puberty blockers, which don't do anything other than delay the onset of puberty so that a responsible decision can be made.

Why even make it a question though? Why ask a prepubescent kid what pronoun the think defines them? Just let them be kids imo.

Kid's don't exist in some genderless society.

People are going to use pronouns to refer to them. And if the kid says "Hey, that isn't who I am, please use this other pronoun for me", then it vastly improves their mental health to listen to them.

That’s just not a real world scenario. No kid under 12 is having the independent thought of, “I don’t think boy/girl describes me as an individual.”

That’s a thought that was manufactured and planted by the people raising the kid, and that’s not healthy either.

Itís not healthy to impart an understanding of the right and capacity for self-definition and the vocabulary to carry it into effect?

In all seriousness this is a profoundly weird subject to weigh in on absent some specific reason to think you have an identifiable insight.

Back to 9/u basketball chats which were somehow way less creepy pls

Studies have shown that children have an understanding of societal gender roles and expectations. They also have a concept of self. Given how transphobic society is in general, I think it's a little ridiculous to say that parents put the thought in their kids head; in my experience, parents often resist the idea very aggressively. I'm wondering what you're basing these opinions on, because it doesn't seem to be the lived experience of trans people, or scientific studies of any kind.
