Re: 2k- a poker story (wtmfl;dr obv)

Saw the longest tank I've seen in a while in our game last night - reg who's probably better at PLO than 2-card was faced with a $600 bet on the river (about 1/2 pot).

He tanked for nearly 5 full minutes, smiling, mumbling to himself about possibilities, asking the bettor what he had, etc. etc. Someone said clock after 3 minutes or so and they called the floor, but the clock caller withdrew the request and the floor walked away.

Reg finally made the call and lost. The only reason we put up with it is the reg was drunk and was already stuck 3 or 4k.

Yes you make slightly more +EV decisions when you take 30 seconds to think each street through but guess what's more EV? A 100% vpiping whale.

And before I get the "yea but not all games have 100% vpiping whales" I'll say, they certainly used to. Before all the hoodie wearing no talking iPad watching tanking each street fools smothered the golden goose that was given to us.
Amen.

Unknown guy blows up about how bad the call was, reg player explains his call (nooooo) and rec player quietly stands up, racks his $1500 and walks away
So it's 400 to win 2100? A bunch of draws missed? You have SDV (and no option to raise because the player is all in)? It's 2-5 live poker???

Snap it off wtf pot odds!

And when villain says it was horrible...

Say "I know" or "It wasn't great" or "Ace high tho" or "I'm rich, I don't care" or "My bar tab was 400 last night" or...

Just say nothing.

The correct response to anyone berating your play (especially regs) is something along the lines of "sorry, thanks for the advice. I'll try to play better."

I always just say "I had a feeling" or "I'm on tilt, you expect me to fold *insert mediocre hand here*". That one always gets some laughs.

I usually respond by saying that according to PIO I have to call at a 1-alpha and I was sure by the leaks in his range construction that he was polarized and that I once saw a RIO video where Sauce talked about this spot.

Spoiler:
