Looking to move up. Not sure if I misplayed this hand.

Two EP limps and hero, who hasn't raised in an hour, iso's QcQh $35 from MP2, only second limper (older WG, loose, has bluffed with bottom pair before and middle pair against OPs) calls. $350 effective (V).

Flop ($75): Kc-9s-8s. We check.

Turn: Tc. V bets $50. Hero calls.

River ($175): Ad. V bets $80. Hero tank calls.

Thanks,
DT

This specific texture I tend to bet. It's just a pure explo tactic bc I think will call with worse and I don't want to induce a bet turn/river that I can basically never call.

If you think he bluffs enough that you make a lot of money calling that down then flop is a clear check and turn a clear call, calling most rivers. This river is kind of gross, especially when he bets such a non bluff size, I think I let it go.

I'm betting flop.

As played, that's a horrible run-out and I'm shrugging and folding. That Ace was supposed to be a good card for us and now he's value milking us when it hits.

Yeah that's the first thought that went through my head is that the A hit my range (AQ, AJ, etc.) and he was betting it for value anyway.

I convinced myself to call because of his history and because I blocked QJ and had no spade. Good enough reasons or was I just rationalizing?

I don't think it's that bad of a call. The price is good and he's a bad unpredictable player.

I'd check back with QsQ, JsJ, top set and whiffed high cards with a spade.

Against a weaker player who has so many 8x and 9x that he won't fold, and who has a wealth of hands with backdoor equity that just don't deserve to smudge his bluffing range, I like a small flop bet.

All runouts will be terrible for our hand and will make bluffcatching correctly very hard.

I'd cbet flop due to profile, if no info I'd check back to control pot.

Turn call, river I think that its a frustrated fold personally.
