2/5 NL deep river spot.

Vill sat down maybe 2 hrs ago to my direct right. 20s seems to be a good reg has higher tier card etc. Has played lag and run good and is table chip leader.
I probably appear to be a somewhat straightforward tag, haven't had to show down a hand.

Folded to vill on bu opens to 20. I have kqo in sb and make it 65 vill calls.

Flop (135) - q83r. I lead 75 and vill calls.

Turn (285) - q putting bd FD. I chose to check because I think vill is always betting a q and is more likely to bluff then call light. Vill bets 115 and I call.

River (515) - 9o. I check and vill bets 330. Its on me and i have almost 1.4k.

Re: 2/5 NL deep river spot.

Bad sizing pre. You need to be going at least 4.5-6x here oop super deep. Villain's probably almost never folding to your sizing (and rightfully so).

I think the flop sizing is too large. Why are you sizing up to over half pot on Q83r?

Turn I guess a check is fine. Problem is you check call and sometimes he picks up a bdfd which he would call a cr with.

River I guess it depends how good you think he is because if you check raise he really shouldn't ever call with a worse hand than KQ because your line has like zero bluffs.

Not really a fan of this line you took....

Re: 2/5 NL deep river spot.

You have good reasoning on turn and it worked out, so right on, but I'm probably just betting again.

I think we just call on river, happy to get 3 streets of value.
What calls you that we beat, if you raise?
Raise / folding seems like a sh*t option.

V's sizing feels value. I would just call river, expecting win sometimes, lose some times.

I think every session I start out tag. Some days I have more willpower then others. As for the sizing, I really wanted to keep vills range wide pre knowing he would float super wide on the flop. I had planned the hand to cc turn and lead river for near pot, but the small sizing on turn made me lean towards a river cr, but then he bet bigger on river and I started second guessing how often he could call a jam with hands I beat.

Re: 2/5 NL deep river spot.

Given the flop is so dry there is close to zero missed draws in your range on the river.
KQ are therefore most likely at your lower end of your "Value check raise range".

So you have the bottom of your check raise range - and close to zero missed draws / bluffs

But your turn Check-Call range should be somewhat wider and therefore KQ is in the middle towards the lower end as I would assume you turn bet all FH.
Therefore V can put you on something like : AA, KK, KQ, QJ, QT and some stubborn JJ or TT

I would lean towards a call given the odds, but expect to be shown AQ or a FH fairly often as V have a hard time having many worse hands he actually think he can bet for value - and he has the same problem of having missed draws on the flop as those hands do not exist.

The more I write the more I actually expect him to shown AQ
Simply due to AQ is to weak for him to 4 bet preflop, but fit the bill to call flop and bet turn and river for value.

Re: 2/5 NL deep river spot.

This deep I just call the river. I don't know what he can call with if you check/raise, unless he doesn't believe you and calls w/ QJ/T. Doubtful, though.

I'm fine with the pre size.

I actually think you got as much out of him as you could have (assuming you are ahead ).

Re: 2/5 NL deep river spot.

I ended up calling, and vill had q10o. Usually in spots where I'm not going to cr for value I'll just lead around pot in order to maximize value. I do think vill is capable of bluffing this river, but even then I really felt like I played the hand suboptimal. I think if I had like 900 on river I'd be an easier cr on the river, but as is I probably could just min raise and get called by whatever queens are in his range.
