I play on a app with a friends of friends and it seems to be everyone is limping with all ranges of hands from 5-3 to AQ and only raising with high pockets. How should I be adjusting my pre-flop game?
this is a dream scenario
Id advise:
1) open up. You can play more hands than normal, esp in position. Im assuming people that are limping 53 and AQ at 1/2 arent doing it as a part of nuanced, balanced strategy. Theyre probably terrible all around and you wanna get in pots with them. Position is important. Id be looking for any excuse at all to play in the CO and button. Limping along with pocket pairs and suited connectors is fine, no need to raise anything for 'balance'.
2) raise pre with your good hands but dont go insane. If these guys are limping with hands as strong as AQ, be careful not to cap their limp/call range too severely. That said, theyll still have garbage a lot more often than not so you wanna punish them pre
3) back down to aggression until shown otherwise. I wouldnt call any 3bets without super premiums and im giving lots of credit to any kind of raise. You want to be doing the betting/raising here.
4) dont be a dick or complain, ever at all. Keep the game fun and flowing.
5) bet. for. value. Prob the biggest thing. Look to get a full 3 streets from top pair.
6) adjust if needed. Playing this way IS exploitable so if you start getting caught or people adjust, back down and start playing tighter until you feel you can ramp it back up again
im no poker expert but I do know how to play against noobs and thats a pretty good primer imo
