I assume this is a false positive? Avira AntiVir Personal detects TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen - Trojan in PokerTracker.exe in the latest beta. Any idea why this is happening? Obviously, it's a pretty touchy issue when it comes to online poker.

This is a false positive. We do submit our files so that they don't have these sorts of problems, and we'll try again with them to make sure they realize that PT3 is safe.

But PT3 is definitely safe.

Yes, it's a false positive due to the piracy prevention method we use.

I would recommend switching anti-virus providers. I use Avast and experience none of these false positives.

Whether or not this suggests Avast! is better depends on your attitude towards how bad a false positive is compared to a false negative.

I use Avira and I have denegate access to the file by error! How do I fix it?

I also get this with avira. Sorry for being naive but should I just tell avira to ignore it?

Also I'm not really sure what a false positive is?

Thanks

Anti-virus software assesses each file it interacts with, and assigns it a value for whether or not it's a virus - positive (it is a virus) or negative (it is not a virus). A false positive is simply where the anti-virus software decides it's a virus, but it's actually not. A false negative is where the anti-virus software decides it's not a virus, but it actually is.

And yes, if you trust the PokerTracker organization (which I imagine you do if you're running their software) you should tell Avira to ignore it.
