PT3 Updating Cache Problem

If you're using Beta 30.7 please run housekeeping with just the ReIndex option checked and then try the cache rebuild again.

If you're using Beta 29.1 or Build 5.2 then either update and do the above or you can reindex your database from the PostgreSQL command prompt. Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Command prompt. At the prompt that appears, type “reindexdb -a” and hit enter. Be aware that if you have large databases this may take a while, so be patient and wait for it to finish.
(If the re-index doesn't work because you are not logged in as user 'postgres' enter: "reindexdb -U postgres -a").

If that doesn't help:
The second reason for this error is a result of faulty hardware. You can set PostgreSQL to ignore these errors by clicking Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Configuration Files --> Edit postgresql.conf. In the configuration file that appears, go to the bottom of the file and add the text “zero_damaged_pages = on” on a new line and then save and close the file. Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Reload Configuration and PostgreSQL will ignore the damaged data. If you continue to have problems with that hard drive, you should consider replacing it.

Tried downloading Beta 30.7, but it won't start up for me?

It just freezes at the PT3 logo....

There is a bug in Beta 30.7 which means that if you update directly to Beta 30.7 from a version before Beta 30 (e.g. Build 5.2 or Beta 29.1) then when you first run it PT3 will update the cache on all of your databases while the splash screen is being displayed. This can take some time if you have large databases, but please let it run as you'll need to do it at some point.

Any idea how long this should take?

Still got the PT3 logo up (Assuming this is the automatic cache update). It has been about 17 hours now though, should I be expecting this.

FWIW, I'd imagine I have about 400-500k hands on my Database (rough guess).

I wouldn't have expected it to take that long but it's possible if you don't have much disk space, or a slow drive or not much memory, etc.
Do you see any disk activity?
Are any of the postgres processes using any CPU in Task Manager > Processes?

PokerTracker.exe is using about 40% of my CPU

But I cant see any postgres processes...

I still have about 40GB disk space left. And although I am using a laptop, it's not a terrible machine...

Most of the work in building the cache is done in postgres.
I would terminate the process and try it again.
Alternatively you can install Beta 30.5 and run that once then install 30.7 again and it will avoid the startup problem, although you will need to run housekeeping again at some point.
