Problem starting the Postgre Service Problem starting the Postgre Service

01-06-2010 , 10:39 PM
Ok so after uninstalling a lot of random software from my computer and disabling some startup items (none of which I thought would affect PT/Postgre), I seem to be having difficulty starting the PostGre service and/or connecting to the database.

When I try to start the service (via the start menu), it doesn't seem to do it.

Any ideas?

I tried reinstalling PostGre (version 8.2), but I seem to be having the same problem. I am using PT 2.

oh also I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning but I recently replaced the motherboard of my computer. Would this be what messed Postgre up?

Often when postgres won't start it is due to an overzealous firewall - please read our Firewall Guide and see if that helps.

Also if you are using Vista or Win7 make sure you are running it as Administrator.
ATTENTION: Windows VISTA and 7 users, you must read this...

I tried uninstalling my antivirus program (Avira) and disabling the Windows Firewall. Still having the problem. Any other ideas?

Please attach the last few files in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.2\data\pg_log folder to a support ticket and we'll investigate further for you.
