build 5.2 complaining about internet access build 5.2 complaining about internet access

I just successfully started the previous build (5.1?) with no complaints about internet access.

upgraded to build 5.2 and now it complains that it can't access the internet when I start it. My firewall (McAfee) usually asks me what to do when it sees a new program wants to access the internet. It isn't asking me now so I think it is treating PT3 as an old recognized program.

Please check to see if you need to create a new explicit exception for pokertracker.exe - the name of the file hasn't changed so I'm not sure why McAfee would think it was a different program, but that's what I would recommend checking first.

I have the same issue. I can't get PokerTracker to work at all today because it keeps telling me this also

Are you using McAfee as well?

I do have it, although I am pretty sure I didn't even have it running (but it may still be blocking it so I will check)

Out of the blue it decided to work last night for a little then when I tried to play later it wouldn't work again.

I'll mess around a little and see if I can figure it out.

OK, I just started PT3 5.2 twice. Once with McAfee (Comcast's version) firewall disabled and once with it enabled. Confirmed that McAfee appears to be the problem. When I figure out how to make McAfee play nice with PT3 I'll report back.

Open your McAfee Firewall then go Personal Firewall -> Internet Applications.

Locate "PokerTracker.exe" and make sure that "Allow Full Access" is selected.

You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

That should resolve the issue.

Full instructions can be found in the McAfee Product guide on page 61.

Thanks. I found pretty much the same by bringing up the online help and searching for "blocking" and reading the "managing programs and permissions" topic that search brought up. It is now working.

EDIT: PT3 was already listed as "allow outbound access". I changed it to full, applied the config then changed it back to "allow outbound" and applied the config. I'm guessing that when the underlying file was changed something slipped through the cracks.
