I hadn't sat 2/4 in months, but have had so much trouble getting a good volume of hands in higher, I have added a 2/4 table in the past few days because my game is getting rusty. As Hood says, the rake is horrendous, so this is as much just to get hand volume in as it is about moniez.

As 5/T-10/20 guys add 3/6 tables, those games die, and the 3/6-5/T guys add 2/4 tables. But I think that's where the cycle ends and the games die for good. There just aren't enough monies at 2/4 and lower to sustain the smallstakes regs, and the midstakes and higher guys would be bored to tears.

I've been learning NL - having another game to play while waiting for action has kept me sane and has proven profitable.

Who cares if games are dead, I'm enjoying watching 100-200 NL and negreanu pull of some sicko $30k pot runner runner straights with 45 from sb lol.
That and looking into astrophysics courses at unis around the world

Which limits NL do u play? It's kinda hard to abandon game where you get TONS of info about fish. FL 2/4 HU is good for 30/h 1.5 tabling. I think this is the ceiling. If your expectations are higher...yeah...
And FL as a game itself is much more interesting.

Just a fun fact - I calulated how much I make per hand after all the bonuses and stuff. For FL 2/4 (6max) it was 10-12 cents, for 5/T it was 12-16 cents. But swongs swongs swongs...so I made 2/4 my home game.

Re: HUHU NC/LC Thread for March

Cue the downswong at the end of an otherwise good month:

Absolute/UB Cereus Hold'em, $6.00 BB (2 handed) - Absolute/UB Cereus Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (SB) ($100.50)
BB ($268.86)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 7, Q
Hero bets $6, BB calls $3

Flop: ($12) K, Q, 5 (2 players)
BB bets $3, Hero raises to $6, BB raises to $9, Hero calls $3

Turn: ($30) K (2 players)
BB bets $6, Hero calls $6

River: ($42) A (2 players)
BB bets $6, Hero calls $6

Total pot: $54 | Rake: $0.50

Results:
Hero mucked 7, Q (flush, Ace high).
BB had 8, 7 (flush, Ace high).
Outcome: BB won $107

Re: HUHU NC/LC Thread for March

It really just comes down to volume. You can certainly grind out a healthy hourly at small stakes if you can get action.

I'm not sure I'd say categorically that FL is more interesting than NL. They both have very interesting dynamics. I enjoy both, though have played much more FL, so maybe the newness factor of NL is what I like. I'm playing 100 and 200NL ATM.

Re: HUHU NC/LC Thread for March

Do they all three-bet the first hand now?

Latest opponent was a classic: Three-bet first hand, I fold whiffed flop. He leaves.

GL in the $9 tourney, bud.

If you look at this through in Hiemlich-Grúburg distribution theory this is actually pretty standard.

Actually, for Hiemlich-Grúburg distribution theory this is extremely lucky.

But for the plain vanilla one, you know, the one that still most widely used (what a shame, btw) it is 400 hands away from z score > 3.
Still lucky, but not as much.

I think you would agree with that.

Re: HUHU NC/LC Thread for March

There is something like a reverse trifecta, where the opponent donks the flop, gets raised, the same on the turn and then again on the river, and it's so obvious it's a sillly bluff but of course the river card made them a pair that wins the pot.

Re: HUHU NC/LC Thread for March

Looks like Hood tried to prank me a little bit
With a healthy doze of sarcasm too. For no reason at all, I might add.

There is no such a thing, obv.
So I had to respond accordingly.

In actuality, 15 AA in 6398 hands is sickly unlucky.
Now it is 6614 hands.
Probability of this is 0.0022.
Or 2.85 SD from the mean.
Really fugly.
