Wynn to launch paid parking

They're installing a system in their garage. Second floor is closed for the week. Front desk confirmed.

I think the Cascade Failure casino still has free parking.

PHo was not charging a week and a half ago when I was there and there were no gates going up. I think Miracle Mile owns that garage anyway.

Hmm, I thought all the CET properties were charging now. Maybe they're not because of the mall.

Venetian/Palazzo, TI, Tropicana not charging for now. Also no fee at Miracle Mile or valet at Mandalay Place (I think).

I'm a little tired of people constantly asking where they can park for free on the Strip.

Re: Wynn to launch paid parking

iirc the wynn garage is kinda small isn't it? and it's also not really centrally located, I can't imagine a lot of people park there to hike to other places.

wynn's clientele tend to be much more high-end (ie spend a lot more $$$) also so I guess I'm a little surprised he's even bothering with capital expenditures for this. maybe he really just wants the loser locals to stay away?

I'm sure it'll pay for itself in a few weeks. Curious if they offer free parking to anyone. It's no secret Wynn's comp system is by far the worst of any major property.

I'm surprised Wynn wasn't the first place to start charging. They tell their new employees that they're proud of the fact their guests spend the most money and get the least return.

I think my favorite Wynn quote was "I didn't build the Mirage to make Doyle Brunson and Chip Reese millionaires."

There was some talk that the new Wynn expansion was going to charge an admission fee, but even Wynn himself admitted they've dialed back plans for the expansion. So who knows where that goes.

You mean admission just to look at it? Not surprising I guess considering they had the audacity to charge admission just to enter the Ferrari dealership.

This is not exactly 100% true but pretty much the jist of the way they want to run things. During orientation they had a whole section about how they don't want/care about low-mid rollers they only want to cater to people that have enough money where they don't care about comped drinks for playing etc.

Also yes they have started construction on the Encore parking garage at the entrance that looks the exact same as every other hotel pay to park kiosks, this has been going on for a little over a week.

"Admission to Wynn Paradise Park will be between $20-50. Steve Wynn was caught on a hot mic saying that "People who stay in the hotel are going to be charged a new service fee," presumably to access Wynn Paradise Park. This fee would be lower than general, non-guest admission."

It's hard to second guess the Steve... but I'm not entirely sold on the new expansion. Although, it's been over a year since that quote and there's been 3 different plans floated around for the buildings to be put around the lake and their most recent quote seems to indicate they have no idea wtf they are doing with it.

Any info on number of hours required in the poker room to get free parking like 150 at Caesars or 80 at MGM properties? Will this even be an option?

If people don't like to pay then they should either pay up anyway or boycott, or get Platinum/Pearl at least. When people park in the places they can park for free, that just encourages more places to charge. I'm almost glad when there is news more places will charge. The people asking where they can park for free keep getting fewer and fewer answers over time. There's almost nowhere left to park for free.

Re: Wynn to launch paid parking

For what it's worth, Wynn valet starting charging a fee once the CET properties starting charging for parking. The fee is waived if you're a decent customer. The staff said it was specifically in response to the other properties charging for parking- the Wynn has no desire to get the riff raff too cheap to pay for parking at another place tie up their valet for free, which makes complete sense in my mind. Charging for general parking is just the next logical step, and the fact they'll make a little extra can't hurt.

Personally I think the Wynn should charge for parking, but if you're a guest of the hotel just insta-knock it off your bill. But this is just the latest in a sequence of events which shows Vegas in general is trying to squeeze every last dime it can from everyone- "old" Vegas simply doesn't exist anymore. And thus far the market has shown (by their continued patronage) that they're willing to tolerate more cost.

That's a crock on Wynn's part. Who's going to park there to go to a place that charges? Venetian doesn't charge, the closest is the Mirage. People are going to park at Venetian or TI, not the Wynn.

The jury is still out on that. A lot of people just found out about the parking on their most recent visit. The tale of the tape will be next year. Especially if they start charging locals. There are casinos all over town to gamble at, and the same goes for restaurants. It already has an impact on the annoyance factor even for people that don't have to pay. The exits are getting backed up, and the stupid readers don't work so great.
