He does now and it is on his perceived interest to do whatever he can to hurt the Wynn brand and did so with the publication of this story.
I'm not sure if Adelson et al. are that happy about the situation. For one it might hurt Vegas overall, but more importantly, everybody knows their business might be next and every new revelation increases the chance for others to speak up.
I think the more important factor for the LVRJ is to control the narrative. Now they can at least claim they were the ones coming out with the story, even though it took them 20 years. Otherwise, there would have been a very real danger of one of the accusers from that story to come forward and not only blame Wynn but also the LVRJ. Not only would that have created a PR disaster but potentially legal consequences. Somebody who was assaulted by Wynn in 2000 could argue that situation would have been prevented if the LVRJ published their story two years earlier.
