I'm coming to the 2018 WSOP to play in Event #4 - $1500 Omaha 8/b, and the Colossus, along with the PLO Giant. I've got my room at the Rio booked and I'm driving in.

I've been playing for more than twenty years, and most of the people I play against regularly see me as a "formidable" player. Granted this could be "big fish in small pond" syndrome.

While in Vegas, I like to meet up with some poker players, especially pros and/or grinders. I have a lot of brain picking to do.

I watch a lot of YouTube vids and vlogs (really like Andrew Neeme). Just looking for some real world give and take about poker with intelligent people. I'll be in from 5/30 to 6/9.

Any ideas??

Thanks for the offer, however, I'm looking for discussion and mutual advice not giving away percentages.....

I would be open to cross-percentages of other people entering event #4. All of us put 20% of winnings in a pool to be split evenly....

You need to get connected with Tony Bigcharles... He will definitely point you in the right direction.

Quick tips for O8 tourney.

don't enter a raised pot without an ace that's suited or qualifies for low, big pairs are good also it they fill up.

Broadway draws can be profitable if there is no low on the board.

Start slow and try and chip up early. Don't risk your stack against big stacks. Raise to isolate small stacks so even if you do lose you are still in the tourney.

Allow time for long lines. Get there a little early and have your water and stuff all ready. Stay off your phone and watch every player every hand to gain info.

Don't show your cards if everyone folds before the river. There are some good players and you shouldn't be giving them info on how you play or betting patterns.

Good luck.

and the Colossus sucks, pretty much unrealistic to reach the money, I would rather play a cash game.

You'll probably do better by saying you're looking for a poker friend than a poker mentor.

You should be able to find Mentors in the candy section, between the Altoids and the Ice Breakers.

OP, will you be able to play days 2+ of PLO Giant in July?

There will be $1,100 FLO8 megasat to $10k on evening of June 2.

Colossus is the easiest tourney to cash in because people are firing multiple bullets and many fish, I have cashed 6/15 times

If you're looking for a mentor, check out Choicepoint. I hear that they have a nice scammy price structure that any sucker can initially afford. It's kind of like Scientology for non-celebrities.

I'm planning on entering the PLO Giant as well. If I can make it to day 2, it gives me a valid excuse to come back to Vegas...

Dude wants to pick the brains of a mentor.
I know you dont wanna pay but are you at least buying a few beers?

If so you can write this ad a little better:

First timer coming to town looking to BUY DRINKS. hang out, and pick brains with more experienced and knowledgeable players.

You may not be in the right place. Everyone on this site is a poker genius and they play at such a high level that and advice they give will probably go over your head and/or seem like bad advice.
