All the room shows up the same price in Rio. Even the suite. Not sure this is error.

Anyone else finding rates significantly higher this year? I just tried to book Harrah's for 7 nights and they were trying to charge me $50 more than what I paid for 10 nights last year.

Rates fluctuate a lot
I have 5 nights booked at ph one week during wsop for 200 total
Now the rate is about 700 for the same 5 nights

But I switched a Harrah's reservation that was about 60 a night for 5 nights to comped

I've given them zero action and stayed at their properties in ac and Vegas probably 40 nights in six months

After a month of watching rates etc... my cheap ass has booked at 2 places - which one should I choose? Going Sun 6/16-Wed/6/19, 3 nights...

Goals are playing cash, mostly on the strip wherever: 1/3, 2/5 NL, or some PLO maybe... going to sweat buddy at Rio on Monday.

Anyway, the 2 places (don't laugh): Circus Circus; The D (downtown)

Circus Circus:
  • closer to strip
  • can walk to wynn poker room
  • more funny pics of trashy people / kids for 2p2 trip report haha
  • cost about 165-170 total w resort fees etc

The D:
  • looks quite a bit nicer than the Circus lol
  • further from strip
  • I've never been downtown before
  • might be ok game at uncapped Nugget 1/2 at times?
  • longer uber/bus ride to strip
  • cost $138 with all resort fees (so can apply some of that $ to travel to strip)

I feel nitty, but places like Harrah's are well over 200 for those 3 weeknights... couldn't find anywhere centrally located. I pretty much only play poker and sleep, so don't care about quality v much.

Super old ?

The credit card is MGMs, not sure what issuer, and gets you MLife/Pearl = free parking at MGM properties.

I was going to suggest a non-casino motel to avoid resort fees, but holy crap, even Super 8 is charging resort fees!

Figure out a way to get a room on the strip. You will be much happier if you are poker player and going in June.

Moondog - Go to the D.

If you're at Circus, you're gonna be ubering anyway to get mid stip or rio, from the D is just a few minutes extra.

And downtown is fun. You talked about getting to photograph crazies at Circus. Once you go downtown, you'll realize how ridiculous that idea was. Downtown is way better for that sort of thing.

and you're right, the D hotel itself is much nicer that circus. Circus feels old and cheap. The D guaranteed doesn't feel old. Cheap is sort of relative - but there's things like stand up showers and general recentish remodel that make it not feel like the cheap strip hotels (circus, excalibur, etc).

i thoguth circus was kinda far from mid strip, like a 40 min walk, its closer than the stratosphere but still.

speaking of northern strip, im surprised at the amount of people willing to lodge at north strip., just doesnt seem like a great location to me personally

Circus Circus doesn’t have crazies so much as just pure white trash. Downtown has more crazy, but the vibe can be similar.

That being said: CC is an absolute hellhole, while I understand the D is somewhat nice. Either one you’re commuting from. If you’re nitty over a $50-100 difference between those and staying at Harrahs, just take a deep breath, clench and book Harrahs.

Good advice got me thinking... staying center trip = more time in poker rooms, so can (hopefully) make up $80-100 with an hour a day of more play.

And - given my sleep cycle tends to suck in LV - can more easily pop in for a nap.

Looks like Flamingo $30-40 cheaper than Harrah's... not much difference re quality / proximity to strip poker rooms, correct?

Flamingo is perfectly fine for a room, all I use a room for is to shower, sleep/nap and watch a little TV. I like the center strip location, and weekend night shifts are better for playing poker.

Ding ding ding!

So I'm looking at the options for Flamingo - the priceline etc options that google directs you to for the best prices. I decide to click on the Flamingo website as I sometimes fear the middle-man sites, and if price is similar...

I dig up my Total Rewards card, which I haven't used in years. I have to reset my password, and then - ! - the price drops from $265 for Sun-Wed down to $119 - only taxes and resort fees, the "room fee" is fully comped and now this is cheaper than The D downtown and Circus Circus.

This is odd, as within the past 4 years my card has only been used to check into cash games in 2015 and 2017 for a few nights.

Lesson (although prob obvious to most): be sure to be logged in to your rewards account when checking rates, even if - like me - you rarely use it, have very low history of gambling in the pits, etc.

any ceasars property. Paris ,Ceasars, PH, Rio, and a few others. Travel rewards will have full list of properties. I booked 6 nights at Paris for $430.00. Weekends weren't comped. Decent charge though.

What is the best mid-range hotel with a kitchenette closest to the RIO? Vdara?

Also, I assume the best PLO cash games running during WSOP are at the RIO?

Thanks,

I have heard of a Site called Roomer.com They have numerous listings for the WSOP at different properties. They handle the transferring of names and reservations with the property directly. Seems safe as well and have rooms at up too 37% market rate

booked the Orleans on 6/15 comped, with a $28 resort fee, bastards. Used my Boyd gaming rewards card.

Like the rooms, the poker room, parking and location. I think the Orleans poker room is the only one where you can park your car (in my case motorcycle) less than 100 yards from your table.

Restaurants aren't bad and they seem to provide better customer service since they are off strip.

Boyd's beds suck. Aside from that, I agree with everything about the Orleans. Bailiwick is a really good bar. Also, can't promote the pub across the street more either. Food there is really good.

I don't notice the beds because usually a Jack Daniels coma negates the quality of the sleep structure.
