I get a studio at Holiday Royale (weekly) for less than the F'n resort fee! I have done that a few times. I have a vehicle as I drive down from Seattle. I went through 10 National Parks in 2017

Good lord do people really fly to Las Vegas so they can eat 4 straight meals at the Rio Buffet? What on earth?

A few years ago there was a time you could get a room at Palace Station for ten bucks, about what it was worth, but had to pay 20 bucks more for the resort fee.

Not debating the "to buffet or not to buffet" angle, but this idea is a bit more +EV by starting later in the day. With a later dinner on the first day, you can buy this so it times out that you get 2 dinners in the 24 hour window instead of 2 breakfasts. I've never done the buffet of buffets at any time, but I'm 99% sure the ability to game it a bit with timing is true.

Also, the cost is more than $50. Like $60 to $75 depending if weekday or weekend. And Caesars (always) and the Rio (Sometimes) are up-charged even more than that.

I just like the convenience of not worrying about buying a meal everytime I get hungry. As stated earlier I want some variety in my meals. My tourney is midweek. Thanks for your thoughts.

Good find. I've lived here for years, have passed by Holiday Royale 1000's of times and never would have given that place look, based upon the location...... However, the reviews are really good.

If the price is still that good, and you have a car, you have a winner....

As an alternative, folks might consider Copper Creek, down near South Point. We stayed there a month last autumn while working on our home. Sounds like it is more $$, but the property overall was great.

Perhaps it is a stupid question, but can't you get some meal comps or better discounts for playing multiple tourneys or Total Rewards status ?

Smarter Vegas.

I find that the discount codes on smarter vegas are generally better than the Mlife/Wynn/Caesar's offers I get.

Damn PUSATFH that is cold. LOL Rio Food is mediocre but pretty common priced by Las Vegas standards. You can get a decent big sandwich at the sports Deli for $15 and a good breakfast at the Hash house for $20 and even a fine meal at El Burro the Mexican place for no more than $30 . Personally I avoid the Buffet because my cheap ass always over eats when I hit those places trying to "get my money's worth" but if you have a bit of self restraint the food is again decent Las Vegas buffet eating. I fully understand DafarginNuts vantage point.

Certainly there are MUCH better deals for good meals outside of the Rio just up the street at the Gold Coast or I have been told the Palms but convenience is a big issue for most of us and If I am dropping $7K - $10K on entry fees during a two week stay I'm not sweating the small stuff all that much.

Yeah, but those are really good hot dogs. The ones they split and grill.

Crappy ones are at Gold Coast across the street for a buck fitty.

edit: RE: buffets, the worst thing about them is the wait. Well, at good buffets. Often 20-30 minutes to get in. The good news is the buffet lines at the Rio are non-existant. That's also the bad news, because reportedly the food is so bad. Pokerkraut did a review awhile go.

it's about a two mile hike in June in Las Vegas - Good luck with that. Rio rooms during the week are $60 tops including the $32 resort fee and taxes. Honestly and I truly mean no disrespect but if $100 of Uber is a financial issue then you might need to rethink a 5 day trip to Sin City. WSOP will still be there in years that your budget can afford it easier. I like to save a buck as much as the next guy (actually I just hate getting ripped off) but gaming on a shoestring can be frustrating at the least.

i just pulled it up and with normal discounts Wsop9 and a reward card the TOTAL bill taxes and resort fees included would be just $290 for the 5 nights June 2 thru June 6th. That would be flight D of the 50 starting date thru final table. NOW that is a SUNDAY thru Thursday stay and the Jack the pricing up dramatically on the weekends as others have noted. Oh Taxes and "resort fee" are $190 of the $290. Rio is a drab casino and the rooms are showing their age but (unless you get a redone one) but the rooms are large and I have found them to be clean (others may disagree) to me convenience is paramount. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

Best case scenario, you are going to be spending most of your day sitting on a chair.

My advice is to carve out funds so that your dinner break / other breaks are spent outside of the Rio, preferably by taking an uber/lyft/cab, to one of the numerous delicious spots to eat that aren't crazy expensive.

Get out of the Rio and realize you are in Vegas, get some sun, and look at all the crazy properties, even if it means coming back from break 5-10 minutes late.

It'll help you regroup.

It'll also help with perspective, especially if you get a crucial beat.

It seems very sad to get 2 outed on the bubble, after a day and a half of play, and all you did was eat hot dogs in/around the Rio.

Enjoy Vegas. They have TONS of good places to eat.
