I think you're better off playing live at a continuous rate until you run it up. Players will be worse and money more substantial. Online could take forever, especially on sites like bovada. Keep firing.

I agree. Consider playing TAG and maybe with a 150ish buyin and get your groove back

I also agree that you should stick with live cash games. Head to the strip, find the tourist (especially with NCAA tourneys coming up fast) and exploit the loose games. If you're concerned about bankroll take a couple weeks off playing live and save a lil up.

It'll work itself out, variance sucks but you'll work through it. Also I know it's close to where you live but I would make the effort to go a little further away from home like Trooper does if I was in ya shoes

Most of my play is live 1/2 and 1/3 with the occasional 2/5 shot. When I'm running bad, my confidence tends to deteriorate also. Then I get back to the basics. Read some LLSNL threads on here. Think about the moves you made to build your bankroll. Don't get into a mindset where you feel you're entitled to the pot. Be patient and wait for +EV situations.

I agree with Natamus, and hopefully you're running it up against some tourist droolers on the midstrip right now. I would hate to see this thread end on behalf of OP going busto.

Most the Mlife props are mostly sold Or completely sold out for the weekend so the tables should be packed with the droolz. GF and I were thinking of going to aria for the weekend but tis sold out so we'll wait til first week of March

Also where I said "close to where you live" above, I was talking about Red Rock but I somehow didn't convey it in the message.

Yea i agree, I know theirs money to be made in the LIVE games.
I think i am going to take off the tables until next week.
Get out focus on my golf and continue reading articles on improving my LIVE cash game.

With my paycheck, income tax i should have about 2200+ in the roll and ready to take the tables on. Also, i plan to get away from Red Rock and hit the strips casinos. A much needed break and big things to come this next week.

Stay away from the 2 5 games until your bankroll is substantially larger. Hit the softer low limit games and invest in your bankroll thru your W2 income. Treat what you're doing like a business, keep your head sharp and be patient.

In my experience until you are really set I would stay away from Red Rock and places like GVR. Make a living at Harrahs or similar places with lots of tourists. Much, much easier competition and there is no substitute for just grinding at these types of places. Your tie will come, but as with all new endeavors you have to put your time in at the bottom before moving up.

Good luck bro, you got this!

The RR 1/2 game is where it's at, games have been epic lately. 95% of the player pool is just as bad as the tourists at the strip.

I feel with the size of there poker room, you get alot more people that see it and are more likely to sit down and stab at it with little experience.

The last post of my KK VS A9s i saw a guy sit down with 100-150 first hand gets AKs and dumps his money into the pot with no pair. mid pair called him down.

Dealer says "You re-buying in?"
He says "Well i didn't expect to lose my first hand, im gonna sit out for alittle bit." Then walks away lmao. never to be seen again.

RR has potential but i think i might just change it up and try somewhere else and see how my luck is there.

(I must say, all the encouragement i get from this blog and everyone thats reading i appreciate your time and hope to keep this thread going as long as i can. You guys really make this whole grind that much funner and keep me motivated.)

OP - how much studying have you done? Read any books, spent time in pokerstove, running equity calcs, watching training vids? From your hand analysis and posting you seem to be lacking some pretty basic fundamentals.

It is going to be very hard to get better just splashing around some short stacked 1/2 live sessions if you have no direction.

I have read 2 poker books(WINNERS GUIDE TO TEXAS HOLD'EM POKER, MICHEAL LUIS; LIARS POKER, and countless hours online for months on end.)
I started with LIVE and know the fundamentals in it, Don't get me wrong i do get a little carried away sometimes but usually i use these "shot" hands to exploit weak players at the table.. (I play a pretty good semi tight aggressive play and usually this gets me paid in spots usually someone wouldnt call.)

Ive analyze plenty of "pros" hands and could critique them, but given that hand and how there opponent played it in a LIVE scenario is what effects there decision making. (As do mine in my hand reviews)

You get any online Joe on this site and throw him on a real table 10 ringed he'll choke. LIVE and ONLINE are two different games.

Also, There is usually only 1-2 hands i post per session out of the 400-600 i play that night. Of course im not going to nail every fundamental, but i will play the way my table is and try to use that to an advantage.

I appreciate your posts while i continue to learn the game.

This is not true. You assign villain a range of hands and if you are not getting the right price to call you don't call regardless of stack size.

I thought Liar's Poker was about bond trading?

Correct. It isn't about poker at all and the author's name is most certainly not Miguel Luis lol. I'm surprised his other poker book wasn't "The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King" about Andrés Beal.

Regardless, you have a leg up on me in regards to # of poker books read. Anything that helps you learn the game, I'm all for it. Just know that you still have a lot of improvement to do. Having read your hand histories I'm not sure you are actually a winning player and if you are you are just marginally so. That's ok though because everyone has to start from somewhere. I recommend focusing all your time and energy on 1/2 and not worrying about 2/5, tourneys, or online. Good luck.
