Wynn is an interesting place to play poker on a Friday night because the tables are right next to a walkway intersection where crazy rich and beautiful people constantly walk by. a parade of beautiful women dressed as strippers right behind my chair for hours.
I had a few benchmarks I was watching. ITM obviously, but I was pretty comfortable so my first goal was 20th, as that was a pay jump. we were stuck on 22 for quite a while.
with 3 tables left I knocked out 2 players.
after 8 hours I had quit keeping track of hand histories. there are so many big hands. additionally, my phone battery died and my charger was in my car (the poker room charger device machine was offline).
next benchmark was 17th because that crossed $1000. hit that, and I was one of the shorter stacks. had a chance to call an all-in with AThh but folded. immediately after I felt that was the wrong move but whatever. as it went I ended up knocking out 2 players with 2 tables left and continued to ladder up.
next benchmark was 8th, because that crossed $2000. blinds were so high and any dry spell gets costly, but I stayed patient. I was very short with like 10-11 left but patiently got to the final table.
I was in obvious shove anything mode but did not get a playable hand and let my blinds go. with 100k (2bb) I got a hand and doubled up. the next hand I doubled up and was into a safer range about 500k. 9th busted, and I got hot cards. I took out the player in 8th, and with 7 left, I was the chip leader with about 2M. dead phone so no chip porn at that point.
I got into a big pot: 30k/60k/60k: my AQ on a A64 flop. turn was 8, river J, and I lost AQ < A8 for about a million chips. I don't know if that is a hand I can and should have gotten away from.
that was the last hand of any significance. someone suggested an ICM chop, after 13 hours of play everyone agreed, and I walked away with $6846 (which was better than the original 4th). the guy I doubled up got credit for the win. could have been me if I folded AQ on an ace high flop 7-handed.
what a day
