YMMV. Not every bank is going to do that transaction without a waiting period.

I have had experiences where banks just don't have cash on hand. One time at a PNC I was trying to wd $5k and they could only give half that bc they said they were short. I think best option is, if you can, call ahead to let them know you'll be coming asking for x amount in cash

My bank got cash deliveries either once or twice a week, and I was told they could accommodate me on the next delivery, but they needed notice.

I can't address wired money as I've never done that, but I do have lines of credit that I use when I go to Vegas and they can be accessed for other than table games. For example, when my wife and I were staying at Cosmo and she wanted to play slots, we went to a cage and she was given a slot ticket in whatever amount she (through me) requested.

I've cashed a check at the cage (with drivers license and players card) and gotten a line of credit for $10k fairly easily. The cashier was able to tell me the balance of my checking and savings account, I thought that was odd.

FYI bouncing a check in Nevada is a felony and the district attorney's office will come after you, a marker is considered a check.

I went to Vegas with my brother once and he had like $8K combined in his 2 front pockets...literally

$8000 between two front pockets isn’t even special. That’s super standard. $8000 in one pocket is harder

I had the best spot to hide cash in a casino room

from someone who installed carpet for a living,i used to peal back a corner of the carpet and pad and spread out 10k,then tuck it back in,,better than a safe

Until the maid "feels" a lump in the floor and takes a closer look.

I would be nervous the entire time I was out of the room. YMMV.

Now, if it's under the carpet that holds up the bed headboard or under the fridge, maybe that would be different.

I will be in Vegas from 6/13 to 6/18 and am happy to hold on to your money for you. My fee is modest. About $3.50.

I've lived in Vegas for 3 years now and there's no way I'd walk around with 10k cash or chips on me. Yes, most people in Las Vegas don't get robbed, but Las Vegas is a perpetual blizzard of crime, as this crime map paid for by the LV police dept shows. You can pick any area, down to a few blocks in size and see what crime has happened there in the last week, month or year. It's shocking. You can filter by type of crime too. The default setting is for the last week, and the strip is centered on this map.

When you are getting a line of credit, one of the things they will do is call your bank to verify funds. I don't recall how much of a margin they were looking for but they asked about average daily balance and frequency of deposits when I had applied for a line a year or two back...

Some years back, on of my Texas parole clients had a federal conviction in his history where he had faked the bank verification (back before internet and email was commonplace) so that he could get a casino credit line. That was back when a $10K line was not commonplace. As I recall, he got five years in the BOP on that one...didn't serve much of it because it was before the 85% rules came into being.

In today’s perfect world for banks, 100% of your monetary transactions happen through ATMs. I am pretty sure they will start charging customers for non-ATM transactions in the not too distant future.
yeah this for sure. just like op is worried, they have no reason to keep a mil in cash at each bank. sure they dont get robbed often but why bother, and its not like its an inconvenience to them, just the customer, when they are short.

i kinda agree about the 2nd part, but im not sure how legal that would be, maybe starting with new accounts or something, phasing over. def not unheard of; the local Verizon retailer here will charge you a fee if you pay your bill in CASH. like $3.

That part may not be legal if you push it, "legal tender for all debts, public and private" and all.

There is no Federal law (there can be state laws) that requires a merchant to accept cash.

Quote:

Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled "Legal tender," states: "United States coins and currency [including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks] are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues."

This statute means that all United States money as identified above is a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law which says otherwise.

BofA was charging people to go inside the bank like 20 years ago. It’s why I left.
