Thanks, I have never played cash at the Aria, although I did play their little daily tournament and equity chopped at final table for like $800.

I have played at Bellagio once for like 3 hours and liked it. I will go back.

Leaving Monday after the Super Bowl for 5 days staying at NYNY. Gonna be the third wheel, going with a buddy and his gf, so plenty of grinding.

Losing my vegas v card! When checking in once you get to the hotel, I heard to slide the clerk a 20 and ask for an upgrade. Any truth to this? I don't wanna make my self look like a jack ass lol I have no problem tipping even 20 bucks for all 3 of us for an upgrade. It's also girls 21st so thinking of throwing that out there as well.

Planning on playing the $125 at aria and then everything else by ear maybe another tourney but focusing on 1/2 & 1/3. I want to play at the venetian, ceasers and mgm.

Only eating plans I have is possibly the mandalay bay 24 hr buffet pass? Heading in pretty much blind although I've been trying to formulate some sort of structure to the trip.

Any advice is appreciated

Going this summer
Is the value better during the WSOP or is it better before/after?

I've tried the $20 trick twice at Venetian and failed both times. I plan to run it back this week at TI, though, because I really want a tower suite instead of a petite.

Do follow up ITT. I was thinking maybe a big face like a 50 would get the job done

Definitely during the WSOP for tournaments. Bigger field sizes, everywhere will have a tournament series, and there will be a much bigger selection for cash games as well.

Please don't raise the minimum. The whole point of the $20 trick is because it's just that... Twenty dollars.

So are you confirming success with the 20 tip when checking in?

I am independently confirming the same success rate with either $20 or $50 after thinking about it.

Hmm good to hear. I wouldn't expect the 20 to do much at like the bellagio or the Wynn but hoping it will suffice at NYNY.

Not to turn this into the $20 trick thread since we already have one of those but....

I'm batting 100% at TI. Don't hide the $20 because they lay it out by their computer screen so it's 100% obvious to the cameras and everyone else. No reason to try and slip it to them secretly. I have never asked for a specific room but for a general upgrade. Example: last week while in town for business I had the cheapest double bed non-strip view room booked. My biz partner couldn't make it so at checkin I gave the guy a $20 with my card and said, "Do you have any complimentary upgrades available? Maybe something with a king bed and great view of the Strip?" He said he'd see what he could do and bam I got both.

Also FWIW I've always booked directly through TI's website. Some people say that helps your chances with the upgrades.

This!!! Don't spoil it for everyone. $20 is going to get it for you or it's not. $30 more is not the answer and it ruins it for everyone because eventually it will take $100 to get a "free" upgrade.

Excellent advice and a welcome reason for optimism!

I did book through TI and called Tuesday to confirm and see if anything opened up. It hadn't, but the phone agent encouraged me to ask at check in, so that gave me hope as well.

Just boarded in KY for Vegas!

I would love to go at the end May. I have only been to Vegas twice and have yet to experience the wsop. Would most likely be a solo trip as my closer friends are not at all into poker. Seriously considering playing in that Millionaire maker tourney. 1500 bi I think. 7 figures guarantee for first place.

You didn't really get an upgrade. A one-king room is already cheaper than a two-queen room, and the strip view falls squarely in the "ask nicely" category of upgrade (even though I know they charge extra for that). I certainly would never fault you for tipping the guy and who cares about $20, but you probably could have aimed higher or got the same thing and saved $20.

When I booked online the 2 queen Strip view was around $115 more over the 4 night stay and the king Strip view was $100 more. I got the cheapest room that I saw on the page. I didn't see (or look) but there might have been a cheaper king non-strip view room available? The room rates were WAY up that week because of the SHOT Show, which they do every year. I was basically paying weekend rates for weeknights.

Def. not arguing about the room tiers I just know how they priced them the night I booked. I also tried every MYTI, MYTIB, etc offer code I could.lol Amazing how different the rates can be.

Quick question...I know about the strip view, non view and corner rooms with 2 windows, stayed in them all. But never anything nicer....is there a chance to get bumped from a king strip room to a suite or another category I don't know about?

Well, tried the $20 trick at TI and now batting a perfect 0-for-3. Guy said they're completely committed on tower suites because of concrete world. At least he didn't take my $20.

But had a winning first session last night at Venetian, so that's positive at least.

Just finished booking my trip for March 27th - March 30th. I got 3 nights at Aria for $377. This is an annual guys trip for the sweet sixteen weekend and am really looking forward to it. Oh yeah, I can't wait to play some PLO live again. Hopefully we can get the 5-10 game going at Aria.
