Don't go out the very first week in September as that is Burning Man, I believe.

The first week of September also has a (widely observed) holiday on Monday and the NFL season opener on Thursday.

Well, as the Raiders aren't in Vegas yet football won't have as big an impact on Vegas as it will in 2020, I am guessing.

Not being a sports better, I didn’t think about that aspect of football.

Thank you

I also think those weeks are pretty popular travel dates for people without school kids. Employees with children often have dips on vacation time during the summer break and back-to-school means that everyone else now gets the chance to take time off.

If you walk to the Bellagio poker room on a Sunday morning at 10:00AM, you can immediately tell if it’s NFL season or not.

Deserted or very full?

Here’s a primer for you, Doc:

1. Burning Man is 500 miles from Vegas and ends by Labor Day

2. Betting on NFL is very popular, even without having an active team in Vegas

That still doesn't tell me if Bellagio will be deserted or full that time of day on a Sunday.

I will hazard a guess and say deserted as I don't remember there being TVs.

The Bellagio poker room is full of TVs. But I was talking about the walk to the poker room where you either pass the sports book or see it ahead of you.

I once left The Bank (nightclub) and decided to relax at the sports book for a moment. Fast forward to 9AM when I got woken up by people starting to snatch up good seats one hour before the first game. By 10 that place is packed.

I honestly don't remember the TVs. I was too busy badly playing $5/$10.

I am not a sports better so I don't pay attention to where the books are. I do know where MGM's is and where Tropicana's used to be.

MGM because I played a lot of poker and Tropicana because I used the exit by the sports book the most.

I’ll add another item to my Doc-in-Vegas primer:

3. Every sports book is flooded with TV’s

Thanks, but we weren't talking about TVs in sports books. We were talking about TVs in the Bellagio poker room. I honestly didn't remember seeing any.

The Bellagio poker room has about twelve TVs in the main room. Several more are in the elevated high stakes room and even more are in Bobby's room. That's about one TV for every two poker tables.

All the TVs are on 24 hours a day showing live sports events whenever possible.

No matter how many TVs there might have been, I don't remember any.

1) I am not a big sports person.
2) I was playing the highest I had ever played so all my attention was on that.

Perhaps, but I should be able to post when someone mischaracterizes what I've said.

Shouldn't I?

I'm not at the Bellagio right now. But, I'm sure the sportsbook is busy.

However, the poker room has just five games running.

It will definitely be much better in the afternoon. But, Sundays are not typically busy days for poker.

PBR: Nov 6-10 - T-Mobile Arena
NFR: Dec 5-14 - Thomas and Mack, UNLV

I'm shooting for Dec 4-8, work and family willing, and the river don't rise.

I tend to glance at the Convention and Tourism postings :

http://www.lasvegastourism.com/conventions_oct.htm

Agree that some of the major, annual events, such as NFR, CES, EDC, WSOP really push UP room prices and also push UP +EV for decent poker players. IN addition, one can look for some major corporate events as +EV for specific parts of the strip.
Example: Amazon Web Services has a 55,000 person presence at Venetian Dec. 2-6. Certainly, this will add a certain amount of newbie players to the poker room during that time.

and, NO, i am not advocating to go play at Venetian. Just using that comvemtion as an example...
